Hi Sub,

I realise this is the Linux forum and I am running Windows however this thread is relevant and probably relates to multi-platform.

I have been noticing for a while that the landscape artwork selected is really low resolution (generally 480x270 or some other non-HD res). It is also pretty much exclusively the same image as the 'fanart' but the fanart is correctly 720p or greater.

This is the case no matter which source I use (SD, TVMaze, etc. either solely selected or multiple).

Is there a way to force a minimum resolution NextPVR tries to grab from the sources? It would be great to set a minimum res for all art styles (e.g. poster, landscape, fanart) if the minimum is not available then a lower res is selected.

In any case, is there a reason why the landscape is low res for the current setup?

FYI, I am currently running the latest server (as of today) with art cache wiped to re-test. Also I mostly use Kodi as a frontend and that seems to pick the landscape art for the backdrops which looks trash.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all your effort!

Which client specifically? Sub does use some filters for quality but they are optimized for the web client. It is quite easy to change them on recordings by clicking the poster, fanart or landscape art and you will get a selection list.

SD is generally a little lower quality the the other sources, but you get much faster art and accurate art.

Definitely try holding the Ctrl key, and clicking on the artwork in the web app, to see what art is available for this show. You can do it for the landscape image in the Recordings page, or in the Details page for the poster and fanart images.

Also worth letting us know some example shows, and I can see if I can reproduce it here.

Hi sub,

See attached screenshot examples.

The landscape art chosen for BGT is 480x270 however other SD artwork is available in 1280x720 (by using the Ctrl+click method). These artworks were populated after loading the web app.

Is there a hidden setting to prioritise the highest resolution first (rather than I assume rating based?).

Cheers

You'll probably need to zip any attachments. (it does also accept png/jpg files, as long as they're not over about 1mb or so)

Did you first look trigger it to download this artwork with the current 6.1.3 release? This had some logic to prefer larger artwork. (artwork downloaded in earlier releases wont have been changed by this)

Uncommon shows may not have much artwork available to choose from.

I've made a small change in the next release to prefer 1920x1080 fanart, over 1280x720, if the there was minor difference in the score.

Are you using Schedules Direct for your guide data?

I just tried Britain's Got Talent, and I got a 1920x1080 landscape and fanart, and 680x1000 poster

Yes, this was triggered using 6.1.3.

I am using SD for guide data. Not sure why I'm getting lower quality. I will purge cache and see what gets downloaded again.
