jellyfin live tv tab shows nothing. recordings tab has stuff.

Running jellyfin 10.8.10, and nextpvr 6.1.4.230625
I am trying to get live tv working in jellyfin. i have enabled
 Allow unauthenticated access for streaming Live TV / Recordings,
and have checked the to make sure the port and pin are the same in nextpvr as they are in jellyfin.

Guide shows completely blank as well as programs and channels. recordings are populating and playing, same goes for scheduled. just can't seem to get live tv working. Not sure whats going on but i can include logs, as well as screenshots

let me know if any more information is necessary to debug. thanks

Jellyfin isn't like Kodi, you need to schedule or force an EPG update to get the EPG.

If you are only using Jellyfin and Kodi remember to turn off thumbnail and timing generation as they can't use them.

Since you are running on same PC you can leave authentication on.

also, another quick question. if i have hardware transcoding turned on for both nextpvr and jellyfin what will happen? will one take priority over the other?
cpu transcoding results in high usage on the i7 3770 i have installed in this pc, so i would prefer to use intel quicksync. is it an issue to leave both nextpvr and jellyfin running with hw transcoding?

NextPVR only uses transcoding for web playback not feeding Jellyfin or Kodi. Typically you would use one web client anyway so it shouldn't be a concern.

Got it. So if i understand correctly, if i play a nextpvr recording in Jellyfin with a web browser it will do the transcoding on jellyfin and not nextpvr. if i play on the jellyfin app for android tv, it doesn't need to do transcoding, correct?

Correct - NextPVR will always just sends Jellyfin the native stream. Any transcoding Jellyfin does before streaming to it's clients is done on the Jellyfin side.

Those aren't yes and no questions, since depending on the input format transcoding might not even be required. If you are using Jellyfin web with the input from NextPVR, NextPVR won't be doing any transcoding unless you have turned it on the optional post-recording.

As for the Android TV app, no idea I haven't used their app, in years and I didn't like it when I did. It might be transcoding based on user settings or device capabilities, remuxing since mpeg-ts playback on Android can be tricky or direct play. You need to find a good support area for Jellyfin.

Also, I'm noticing another problem with recordings. It seems I can't sort nextpvr recordings in jellyfin. every option i try in terms of sorting does nothing. all the shows are sorted the same way as before, regardless of the sorting option I choose. I think this might be a nextpvr plugin bug. Is there a better place to report these types of bugs to?

As I just posted you need to find a Jellyfin support forum. I wrote the adon but I only use it if I have too, I don't keep it current. I suspect it is a Jellyfin issue.

I'm not sure if this is a plugin bug, or a issue with jellyfin. I noticed that sorting works fine with everything else with jellyfin, just not the plugin.

Anyway it's ok. My ultimate goal, and purpose for all this was to use jellyfin with nextpvr on a roku tv. I know nextvpr doesn't have a client for roku, nor kodi, and doesn't run android, so yeah. uidroid isn't an option either, so that's why i was thinking jellyfin for this. I also like it how jellyfin is an Allinone app. I'm pretty invested in nextpvr, and don;t want to use jellyfin as a primary dvr. just a client for nextpvr.

Anyway, might just get a fire tv or android based chromecasts, then uidroid or kodi. I was hoping to avoid getting one and just use the roku, but I guess I have to bite the bullet.
