I had asked about this one beofre, and just curious if it may be coming in the next update.

This is just the ability to hit record while watching something, and then exit to the guide w/o stopping the recording. It's only that it's a pain to mute the sound and leave live tv on all night if you're doing it before bed.

I second this request. If you're watching live tv and then realize you're not going to be able to finish the program, it'd be nice to be able to hit record and then exit, especially since the alternative will end up recording until I come back and stop it. It might be hours. A prompt on exit that asks if you'd like to continue recording or not would be great!

For instance, I'm watching football or a movie that I want to see but my kids don't, and then for some reason I gotta go suddenly. While I'm away from the PC my kids are likely to go watch something else... their "Zack and Codie" or "My Life as an Alien" episodes from Disney that they're always adding the season recordings list. Now on my way out the door I'm saying "Leave the TV alone... don't mess with the remote!" hoping they don't screw it up, and listening to them whine... "Why can't I watch what I want to watch?"

Hm, if you are using the EPG than you could call the EPG via Remote-Control WITHIN the LiveTV. It's then a small window under the LiveTV. Now you can make a record over the EPG-Fuction.

The recording would stop at the end of the EPG-Data. It's not perfect, but better than nothing Smile

So you're saying I can initiate a record from the Mini-Guide? I'm gonna have to play with that and see if it works.

Yes, you can. I control GBPVR with my silver 45-Button Remote which was bundled with my PVR-150.

It's like the "big" EPG. I can choose the channel, the time (actual Shows too) and start the recording.

It's not so comfortable like the One-Touch Record Button, but it works very good.

What you describe is the same as just going out to the guide and hitting quick record, so you don't need to do it in the OSD.

The difference is if you're watching timeshifted, and you hit record while watching, you retain everything you've watched to that point, and continue recording. If you do it as I mentioned above or as you descirbe, you lose the file.

There's just been a cpl of times I started watching something and wanted to wait and watch it all w/ my wife, or missed the begining (but was playing it) and just want to watch the whole thing later (eg, I tune in late night, doze off very early on, wake up 1/2 through, figure I should wait till tomorrow).

If could be set up where hitting record in the OSD would keep the existing file and continue recording on exit, and esc alone would stop it, that would be fine, too, personally.

I wanted to see if this one was possible for the next release. I was reminded of it w/ the new release; being able to keep a recording going that you start while watching when you exit viewing.
