Will/can the new version allow you to see files just by file names? W/o reading the tags?

I have a bunch of old MP3s w/ no data, so I have a lot of "00" files w/o names to guess at. It would be nice to have the option to see the files in a straight explorer format.

Can you add albums to the play list and how do you play an album. I seem to only be able to add individual songs to a play list and play selected songs

I want to add albums to play list and be able to play albums.

is this possible ?

cheers

You can add albums by start playing with the play button instead of the OK button. If you do so on a file all following files will be added to playlist as well.

Hi reven,
gjen is right playing an album would be much easier when you could press play on a selected folder and all files within this folder or maybe the folder and all subfolder would be added to playlist.

If you would insert such a thing (with the subfolders) another idea would be to add the files shuffeled to the playlist - with another key in addition to the normal add. By doing that you would have created something like a very flexible jukebox. And that would be very cool.

Hey Reven. Any chance you can force sort the list of directories/files when you enter any directory.
After reading a lot on this, depending on what type of drive your files are stored on, a DIR or TREE of directories does not necessarily return alphabetical order.
That's what causing my problem with MyMusic (and MusicAlbums, but I think Paulg fixed it in the last version)

the reason i havent added this yet is, how deep should this go? with the db it will be much easier (i dont have to do a search for music files in every sub directory, just one single db query) but should it work on "artist" and then play every song that artist has done, or should it just work on album?

the current version sorts by filename, it only loads the tag information when needed (eg i think there are 12 items per page, so it only loads the first 12 when you enter the directory, and when you move down it loads those etc). with the db everything will be loaded as you enter, so it will sort by tracknumber. but its still a good idea to keep your music in this kind of format
artist\album\tracknumber - song.format

So there's a way to see the file names in the current version? How?

I probably have a few hundred older files w/ no tags, so anything where I can't see the file names is really hard to use.

I'll check it out then...thx.

If possible, maybe in a future version, maybe it could use the file name when the ID3 tag is null.

nah, with the database this would make it impossible.

there are probably some tools that can search for mp3 files, look at their names and fill in the missing tag information.
