Is anyone using open source video editing software? I'm looking for something to replace the Power Director 10 I lost when my unit went south, and can't afford a new one. Tks.

If you're just looking for a basic editor I use Avidemux which supports win & linux. If you're looking to automate conversions I like MCEbuddy but it's windows only but will run under wine in linux.

There are quite a few to choose from. Here's a review of 8 of them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmHAiUcAPwk

I am now using avidemux, and it appears to work well. But I am having to test various dvd burning programs, as winx dvd author doesn't seem to work well. I'm sure I'll get through this eventually, and thanks for the info.

No matter how I output it, the resulting file seems to be limited to 4:3 aspect ratio. If my source is a 16:9 video, then the output will be letterboxed (reduced in size). Is there any way I can get full screen 16:9 aspect ratio in this program?

I bought a version of Nero Video, and it works great on my PC.

Kdenlive is "okay". It can do lots of things. It does occassionally crash, but often recovers the project when it reloads. Save regularly!
