hmmmm come to think it i think you need to stick with my music 2....

Will it be possible to use both MyMusic2 and MyMusic3 in the same GBpvr installation? Maybe as a MyMusic Classic

nah they would have the same name (ie my music). if you want to use file system just stick with my music2, but if you want db system (which is better) use my music3 or above.

nah, with the database this would make it impossible.

there are probably some tools that can search for mp3 files, look at their names and fill in the missing tag information.

Yes, MediaMonkey (free) has a "auto tag from filename" option

the current version sorts by filename, it only loads the tag information when needed (eg i think there are 12 items per page, so it only loads the first 12 when you enter the directory, and when you move down it loads those etc). with the db everything will be loaded as you enter, so it will sort by tracknumber. but its still a good idea to keep your music in this kind of format

Okay, all my cd's are in a nice system with id3 tags so I'll use MyMusic3 for those (if I can turn animations off ), it was just for my own and friends music which usualy doesn't have tags, but I'll just use the Music Library in GBpvr for that

the reason i havent added this yet is, how deep should this go?

If you ask me the actual folder and one subfolder would be OK. Then you would have an album and if it was a double the two cds.
And in a possible jukebox mode i think all subfolder would be needed. Although 4 levels would be enough for me.

but should it work on "artist" and then play every song that artist has done, or should it just work on album?

Should work on all kinds of sort but in all but album you should shuffle the songs automatically

in the next version i removed all the sorting methods (since they seemed pointless for music) and replaced them with
- Albums (which is a db list like ARTIST(sorted by name)/albums (sorted by year)/tracks (sorted by tracknumber)
- Genres (genres sorted by name/ARTISTS-ALBUM (sorted by name)/TRACKS (sorted by tracknumber)
- top 100 (sorted by rank).

they seem to make a lot more sense, can anyone else think of another way to sort this, which would make sense?

you mean grouping..... or will the plugin display EVERY track of every album? i think it will display the albums and then, by clicking the album display the tracks in the album.....am i wrong?

grouping by artist would be a fine thing also. the killer-feature would be, if the user could define those "views" in the config-app. just a thought...

Will you be able to incorporate a random play option in this version of My Music ?

and the ability to stop folders being added to db [by presence of a noindex.txt file] or flagged in the db that they should not be randomly played
