Hi

I'm using a Terratec H5 USB tuner and "Scan Channels" comes up empty as soon as I click the button.

I'm using the attached INI that should be trying to check as many possible channels as possible, but no luck.
Scans with other INI files come up empty as well, so that can be ruled out.
Doesn't make a difference whether the Media Portal 2 service is running or not, so that can be ruled out as well (e.g., conflict due to a locked resource)

A scan comes up with plenty of channels if I use Media Portal 2, so the hardware itself must be working.
There would theoretically be an alternative using TVHeadend, but on a Windows machine that only adds truckloads of new problems through the Linux subsystem and a whole world of hurt thanks to tutorials that have been outdated for over a decade.

A forum search led to an old thread that never came close to a solution, so that didn't help either. https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...erratec+h5
NextPVR seems to be my only remaining option for a working integration with Jellyfin, but I first need to get it wo work in itself, without hooking up another application.

Hope someone can help me find a solution.
Thanks in advance!

Edit: Since the attachments don't seem to show up, I've also uploaded the logs and catch-all INI file to https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1...sp=sharing

Looking at the logs your tuner is not installed correctly since you got this a few times. The referenced link for 15 years ago was not the same problem since the tuner was working.

2024-02-26 21:06:20.036 [DEBUG][4] Failed to start device: 0x8007001f

I would suggest disabling the MediaPortal service and any app and then rebooting and posting the logs again.

You can't attach log or .ini files, next time use the web page setting to zip them and then attach the zip file.

Thank you.
I've uninstalled Media Portal 2 since then, but no change in the visible results.
In case the attachments don't work again, I've also put the logs in https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1...sp=sharing

They didn't attached are your sure they were zipped?

I didn't see that BDA error and I noticed this now, something about how you have changed the Windows default folders, you need to set these folders up properly.

Thanks, I've recreated the directory and even restarted the service, no change.

Let's see if the ZIP upload works, but just in case: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1...sp=sharing

That's better. The all frequency scan you are using is really slow and you did not let the scan complete and clicked scan while it was scanning so things get confusing

If you know the frequencies you want the scan will be shorter if you create a custom ini file.

Thank you. I think the misunderstanding stems from the lack of a progress bar or the like to show that it's still working its way through the list in the INI file (strange, since it's a list and polling the percentage of the list processed would be a perfect use case for a progress bar).
It seems to be doing something, even when I've selected one that's not a catch-all, but I'll have to let that complete and get back to this thread when it's finished in half an hour or so.

Update: It has now found 43 unencrypted channels (minus a few shopping channels I'll have to delete).
They still don't show up in the client frontend, or Jellyfin plugin but at least I've now advanced to a different problem. Big Grin

Great you might want to keep the logs to help find the frequencies you need to scan.

NextPVR has about 20 clients so not sure which one you are talking about. Jellyfin and some others are not dynamic after a rescan so it it makes sense they don't show.

Thanks, I was using the built-in web client that's started from the admin interface (uiclient.html) and the version that's launched through the start menu link installed through NextPVR.
It lists the channels found during the frequency scan (minus the shopping channels I deleted), but no content is displayed or EPG data retrieved.
