Newbie here. Switched from Win10 to Linux Mint 21.3 today.
TV tuners are two Hauppauge WinTV-dualHD (Dual tuner USB). Hauppage LinuxMint install as per Ubuntu page on Hauppauge web site. Tuners can be seen with command lsusb NexPVR doesn't see them in Devices; It does list something else which I don't recognise. I would appreciate any guidance. Rod Hutchinson VIC, AU.

If you see DVB devices everything is good, Linux uses generic names for the tuners. If it is IPTV only you probably haven't installed the tuner firmware. Installing this is much like installing drivers in Windows except how to find and install firmware. If you aren't comfortable with a little bit of research maybe moving to Linux is not for you.

I think you are making a lot of assumptions. This is not my 1st time in Linux Mint. I have a dual boot Win/Linux Mint, I began with Ubuntu years ago and worked in data base design. In all the literature I have read, nothing is mentioned about generic names.
I will attempt to scan these generic names and see what happens.

Sorry no offense, intended but I stand by my statement as you did say you were a Windows users. If you had posted the required logs I wouldn't need to make assumptions on what you are seeing since we see the scan results.

Martin,
I removed NextPVR and then reinstalled it following the instructions elsewhere in this forum. Following the install steps implicitly I was able to proceed with a scan of my local channels. I followed the Hauppauge instruction line by line, perhaps I was remiss with NextPVR. Kodi is my front end and all info has passed through. Local channels are working. Thank you for encouraging me to follow my own advice. "when all else fails, read the instructions". Rod Hutchinson, VIC, AU.

Martin,
Is there a forum to help set up LAV Filters on Linux Mint 21.3? Rod Hutchinson Australia

No they are only needed for the NextPVR.exe client and nlite which only run on Windows.

Thank you Martin,
I couldn't find any reference in my previous install notes. Rod Hutchinson Australia. |
