There is probably a misunderstanding.
I do not use the xml file generated by dvbguide.exe to use it with NextPVR. NextPVR already does pick EPG directly automatically or manually. The xml file generated having bad encoding, NextPVR showing wrong characters, MPC-HC showing wrong characters, DVB-T showing wrong characters... meaning something got screwed in the source (my ISP's EPG service). I got to the conclusion that the wrong characters also affect recording filenames as well. Yesterday, I recorded a football game and the resulted filenames had weird characters instead of letters with accents. I will try the settings instruction above.

The recording will use the title from the database so it will use whatever characters where stored when the EPG was scanned. Garbage in garbage out. As I said it is not a display issue.
Sounds like you need to wait patiently for the next version if the OTA update doesn't work for you. Martin

I am not sure what's being used in the Europe regarding EPG encoding.. maybe each country adopted UTF-8 or some specific codepage.
All I know, NextPVR and the rest were working fine with UTF-8 until 2 weeks ago until something got screwed. I tried Settings - Channels - Advanced Tools - Auto Map - nothing->DVB-T/ATSC and click Auto Map. If I go Tools > Auto Map, it got back to nothing. I select DVB-T/ATSC as source, click Auto Map button, then go to devices, AF...something. scan for channels. I click All Countries, I can't see my country there, and click Scan, and still weird again. Maybe I am doing something wrong. While I am here, maybe you want to add my country+ISP+Regions. Portugal MEO coax RF PDF MEO is an ISP tut'ed by Altice. Portugal Mainland, Madeira, Azores. There are a few more operators but I've got no clue if why use coax. Maybe there also have PDFs. There is also free over-the-air channels and it region dependent. Digital Over-the-air Television In both ways, the channels were moved few years ago to lower frequencies to give place to the 5G networking. Anyways, thank you for any patience/loss of time with this ridiculous problem.

I don't know enough about your system, perhaps it is DVB-C not DVB-T over coax but it seems you can tune it to get a full mux. I don't understand why Auto Map does nothing, it looks like sub mapped the channels OK, perhaps that is something else in the future version.
The reason the PT scan file doesn't exist is no one submitted a file. There is enough information in the PDF for you or someone interested enough might create one (or one for each region) to reduce the number of frequencies being scanned). Martin

We surely use DVB-T/T2. The ts files has H.264/AAC. For fiber->coax and tv-over-the-air use the same thing and offer EPG.
Proof of this... is that I can tune the fiber->coax channels with a 2009 tv that only likes dvb-t h.264/aac. The MEO's (isp) fiber->coax offers digital channels (tv and radio) and also some analog channels for ancient tvs. I think it's the same for Spain. At least people near the border can tune their stations and they have a lot more channels than we do, regarding tv over the air. In Portugal we have 7 or 8 channels and they have over 40.

Thanks that helps clarify things, you have much better cable support then we get here in North America where very few users get FTA from the providers anymore. You get everything including teletext.
I am having trouble getting to my PC with DVB h/w that can modulate your file to boot because I want to test automap. I did notice sub's screen captures didn't show channel numbers so I am curious. Edit: I got it working but like you automap failed, so these streams are a little bit different than NextPVR is used too handling. The guide data seems to have expired too, so if you could do a new capture that would help. SIC Notícias is correctly identified during the scan. Martin

Fiber network is massively implemented around here. There are at least 4 main operators and these provide tv channels over coax or over fiber. The TV over-the-air platform is not so well invested due burocracy and it is expensive.
Teletext is dying here. Only the "public" tv stations use teletext but even so, one of these tv stations is sending people to their website while the others do not update their pages. I will get you a new capture and maybe also from the next frequency if needed. When I select the device, click scan, scan for channels, I get 126 channels, most of them are TV stations. I get the weird characters. Then I save. Then I went to channels, clicked Advanced tools, Auto map, I see DVB-T, but the EPG Source says None, I select DVB/ATSC and click Auto Map but nothing seems to change. When I go to Advanced Tools > Auto Map, EPG Source is back to None.

Things are odd with 6.1.5 and Linux for sure, so I need to discuss more offline with sub. let's see what happens with the new files.
Edit: all is good with the guide data here on Linux with OTA, for some reason localhost was not defined in CE on this box. Even the new version is not required. It is just channel mapping not working. Martin |
