I right clicked this and 'closed' NextPVR in the system tray as I wanted to restart - however, when I visit local host it's still running and when I boot up the desktop app I can still watch TV but there is no item in the system tray - will my scheduled recordings still take? I presume the server is still active as I am able to access it but yeah, the absence of the logo in the system tray is confusing as it had been ever present prior to that.

Also - checking under 'device status' it says 'no device are active' in case that is relevant.

Cheers

There isn't any NextPVR in the tray app, just web app and desktop app. You can't control the service via the tray you need to use the Windows Services and restart the "NextPVR recording service" There is also no close but if you exit the tray app it doesn't impact the service or NextPVR.exe but you will be able to shutdown the PC when recording which it guards against.

I'm confused, this is what I am referring to - https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/windows-tray-app

I would like to return that to my tray in order for me to see, at a glance, the status of my NextPVR - is that possible?

Currently the only NextPVR service available is showing as running

Ok but it isn't close to what you described and that wasn't what you asked

You can run "C:\Program Files\NextPVR\NPVRTray.exe" to restart it.

You can just run NPVRTray.exe to restart it, or rebooting it should start it automatically.

NPVRTray is basically a small standalone application that can be used to tell the status of NextPVR at a glance. Choosing 'exit' from the menu is effectively just closing the NPVRTray application. (it doesn't stop the recording service etc)

Apologies, mentioning the windows system tray and the app icon in the system tray I thought would give some clarity - I'll know next time to include any references to the wiki that I can. Appreciate the prompt help as always Martin.

Thank you Sub, very helpful to have that! I refer to it often so wanted to have it back, slowly getting to grips with the service but it's all new to me. Appreciate the response and help.
