I'm on NextPVR 6.1.5.231022. I don't normally use subtitles, but when my half-deaf Dad was here I turned them on (DVB Subtitles [eng]). On one channel, U&Drama (UK), the 2nd or 3rd coloured subtitles are not a single colour, but a pattern that is sometimes hard to read. If I watch the same programme on the TV the subtitles are normal, but the same transmission via NPVR has this strange effect. I have looked for, but can't find, any configuration for subtitle colours. See attached example. It seems to be a problem on any content from that channel, other channels seem okay.
I tried on anther TV via the android app, and it offered "English [DVB Subtitle 6614}" but when selected said "No matching subtitle found".
If I watch the same thing on my laptop via the webpage, the subtitle in the same place is normal (pale blue). Log attached ends with the picture on pause displaying the strange patterned text.

Did you try yauiclient to see if it shows ok? I recently suggested it for subtitles https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid595161

Which Android app? If you mean uidroid there is a of work to be done in UI client passing subtitle information to the client, it is totally broken in the upcoming v7, so if it doesn't work turn on the automatic subtitles in the settings.

I had not tried yauiclient, I only tried the android tv to see whether it worked on that, and added the info to the question as it showed the "6614" which I thought may be helpful. I don't need subtitles on that anyway, only need it a couple of times a year when my Dad visits, and only on the NPVR machine.
I've just tried yauiclient to test the subtitles, and the "tartan" effect is not there, so the problem is with NPVR.exe.

With DVB subtitles, the colors to use come from the stream.

If you can supply a sample recording that shows this problem, I can check if it there is something wrong about how NextPVR is interpreting this specific color.

It looks like they had an attempt at antialiasing the curves/angled parts of the font, but I would have expected a darker color, not a lighter one.

Rather than send a 2hr episode of Brokenwood, I recorded on that channel until I saw the "tartan" subtitles then stopped to keep the file size down. You should find it here:

The first time a third voice is subtitled is at 00:03:56, saying "Debs all right?".

I tested the sample with v7 NextPVR and it shows the yellow and white colors okay even from the beginning but yeah the light turquoise for Deb's all right is messed up in NextPVR

Also in general I feel yauiclient shows them much clearer even when the colour is OK and on skip or pause NextPVR seems much slower restarting them.

I've fixed the color for the next build.

There was a mathematical overflow in my colorspace conversion method. I was converting the DVB Subtitle colors to RGB, this specific color wasn’t converting correctly.

Thanks again, and for the explanation.
