Hello,

I recently upgraded from v6 to v7 of NextPVR and now my EPG listings are either mostly or half missing at best.  I had no issues with version 6 of NextPVR except for the periodic miss of a couple of channels.  Now I frequently find that a process in NextPVR (when I examine its status from the system tray icon), is hung on one of the tuners (I have 2 tuners) -- I assume its in the process of doing an EPG update.  To recover from this, I reboot the computer.  When running (without hanging), it seems the EPG listings are missed for the same set of channels.  Sometimes (but rarely), the EPG listings for those missed channels are populated.

Another issue I have is that when a program is recorded, the .TS file is converted to a compressed MP4 file, but the original .TS file is never deleted.  This was managed properly in version 6.

The version number is correctly shown on the Settings page (most of the time), but sometimes it displays 7.0.1.0 with a notification that it can be upgraded to 7.0.1.241229.  After another refresh, it shows the correct current version.

I attempted to re-install NextPVR by deleting the old configuration (and new database file), rescanned the channels, etc., but the same issues remain.

I saw that there are a couple of other threads posting similar issues.  I don't know if this is the same issue as those... or if there is a definite solution.  Please let me know.

Thanks. 7.0.1.241229  7.0.1.2

Without logs there are no issues. Your EPG update issue is not necessarily the same as shown in this thread.

For the .mp4 problem, is the mp4 file actually called .temp.mp4. If so turning off thumbnail and timing file generation should solve an issue with a logic flaw introduced in v7.

Attached are log files in the log file directory.

For thumbnail file generation, I changed "Recording Thumbnails" to None.  Where is the timing file generation option?  The "Use filenames with Plex date format" is turned off.  However, "Use Movie Name (YEAR) format if possible" is enabled.

Thanks.

Thanks the logs don't show either of the issues no recordings stopped and the tuner didn't lock so you will need to post them when it occurs.

For the problem on this thread, I do see some indications that the problem on this thread is occurring, the first scan working with some data scans so follow this thread for any changes. Our Canadian OTA data is just so bad as you note by doing an update every 4 or 5 hours.

Let me know what else is needed to analyze the EPG issue.  This issue is occurring each time it scans (every 4 hours or so).  On the most recent update, NextPVR displayed "EPG Update complete. [253 inserted, 0 updated, 1 skipped].  Listings for several channels are missing -- both American and Canadian OTA stations are affected.  If I let it run for a day or so without rebooting, NextPVR will only update 2 of the stations.  The reason that I configured a scan every 4 or 5 hours is because the EPG seems to be good only for about 6 hours.

And I just discovered now that the Device Status is displaying the following:

Hauppauge WinTV-7164 BDA ATSC/QAM Tuner (#0)
- \\.\pipe\NPVR_262f01b5-fd9d-46f5-a915-6b855aff74e8:pids=8187

It seems to be stuck here.  See attached log files.  Thank you!

Yes it is stuck there but clearly your source signal is very bad on the previous channel which may have left some sort of cleanup. Sub will need to look to see if there is a solution. We don't have the complete logs because you are using NextPVR and didn't zip them up from the web server.

You should set the EPG too Noe to channels that are fringe (I suspect from Buffalo based on 26 and 17). How well do you receive them for Live TV?

Most of the stations I configured usually have a good signal, but there are a few that are weak and depend on time of day. I did not have this issue in the earlier version of NextPVR. I will take out the stations from EPG that are weak, and take out others that I rarely watch. Hopefully that will help until the problem can be fixed.

I zipped up the log files on the server itself (the machine hosting NextPVR). I encountered a problem where some of the log files were 'locked' and couldn't be zipped -- so I copied the logs to a subdirectory (which avoids the lock issue). Please let me know if there is a log file missing, and I'll try my best to get it.

Thank you.

You have to get the logs from the web settings page.

I got it.  Attached are 2 sets of log files, after 2 different EPG updates.  Not sure if its stuck on something or not.  This is after removing several channels from EPG updates.

Also attached is a snapshot of the channel lineup.

Yes the 9:46pm scan seems to have stuck but again scanning is happening on Buffalo frequencies 36 and 32 that don't lock and sub needs to investigate if that is a logic issue. The second scan didn't lock but was able to continue on.
