I tried a modifying the launchdaemon, attempting to throttle the keepalive respawn to something lower than immediate, but I don't think there's a way that actually works.

I was suggesting maybe a bash script in PreStatup.sh that runs
netstat -anv -p udp4 | grep -c -e '802[01]' and wait for 0 assuming that it will timeout. Martin

I'm guessing 8020 and 8021 are the ports the HDHR uses, and this tests to see if it is sending data?

For legacy tuners it starts at 8020 and goes up based on the number of tuners you have, not sure exactly how sub (not the HDHR) assigns them. You might want to play with the regex.
