Hello, Brett. And thanks for your experience. A tempting offer about trying a genuine SiliconDust device but the DCR-3250 is a SiliconDust derivative. Also, I'm goosey about moving the cable card from my current device.

What I intend to do is ease into V6 from V4 a little at a time to check performance. I'll probably move to V7 beforehand.

Just consider yourself lucky you provider still offers cable card.

Moving the order only changes the risk of the 4006. As noted you do have other issues in v4, no meta art, potentially bad season numbers from SD and that failed recording that we wouldn't even bother looking at.

I've attached the V4 and V6 log files from the overnight EPG update. 

I'm puzzled that although the V4 config.xml file shows an update time of 2:05:00 AM, the log shows it ran at 04:05 AM, the same time as the V6 update. Any ideas?

Simple, you didn't restart the server after changing config.xml to reset the time tomorrow will be at the new time. (in V7 that wouldn't be necessary)

Your lease got extended when you changed the update time so there wouldn't have been any issue anyway.

Hi -

After many happy years w/o EPG problems I'm now having similar issues with EPG updates using V4.  Tried V5 when it was first released but no support for a client mode was an issue so stayed on V4 with no issues until last month.  SchedulesDirect told me v4 wasn't supported because of an API issue.

Switched a Windows 10 machine over to NPVR V7 using the same set-up I had with V4.  I'm able to view live TV but can't get it to record anything.  Tuner lights flash on HR tuner unit but don't stay illuminated.  I'll post about this issue in the Windows forum.

I'd really like to stay with V4 if I can fix the EPG update issue.  Any suggestions?

I have also stayed with NextPVR V4 ... I use EPG 123 to create an XMLTV file containing data from Schedules Direct ...

I've downloaded the .msi and have looked through installation guides. It seems I should go with Server Mode since I only need the XMLTV file created from SD. Does that sound right? Any tips for switching to XMLTV from SD-JSON?  Can V7 process XMLTV for guide updates?

The main downside will be the lose of integrated meta art from SD. You can use the same xmltv file in v7 and this might save any issues with conflicting access to SD however that conflict issue is not a major concern with epg123 and v7

It might be worth checking if the uniqueid matches in the xmltv file. At one time I asked sub to ignore dots during the import since some source files had them.

NextPVR will run "updateepg.bat" if it finds it the "scripts" folder ... I have EPG123 in "updateepg.bat" and NextPVR automagically runs the .bat file before it does the EPG update.

Hi Graham,

Thanks for the info about about EPG123.  Read through the material and it seems to be a bit intimating for an old man like me.

I did d/l the installation package and ran the setup but I can't proceed just now because I'm on SD's sh.t list an get this error message:

"TOKEN_MISSING: Access to account via JSON has been disabled due to
1000 requests for images without presenting a token. Please contact ...."

I've have to wait until SD forgives me then I'll give it another try.
