Replacing an MCE Remote

My existing NPVR setup has an IR MCE remote that's been well used over the years and has seen better days.

Given MCE remotes are a bit like finding Unicorn droppings, I was considering getting a good condition Medion OR24E or OR24v RF MCE remote as a replacement.

Searching the Internet, I cannot find any user manual or details of any software that might be needed for the USB receiver (Drivers?).

Does anyone here have any experience with this remote and can advise if software is needed? Also, how do you pair the remote to the receiver.

I recently bought a plug to power on/off a PC with an MCE remote (never owned an MCE remote). I found that my TV provider's remote can be programmed to control an MCE PC so I didn't need to buy an MCE remote. I was testing this device in my living room where my HDPVR2 is (which I control with an old hauppauge PVR-150 remote) and accidentally found out that my HDPVR2 was reacting to the MCE commands. I have 3 old hauppauge remotes and they can control that MCE device.

Stupid me thought hauppauge remotes were their own thing but they basically are a subset of an MCE remote. If you own an old  hauppauge remote, as many NextPVR users do, give it a try.
