Can't see much in the Wiki regarding the syntax of commands that can be included in the "Advanced" schedule recording field.

Is there any way to specify a specific day of the week (or number of days) to schedule a recurring recording?
e.g. Just Monday or Monday+Wednesday+Friday.

The question arises because we have some programmes which are on every day Monday to Friday but certain days (e.g. Tuesday & Thursday) are repeats and other days are new episodes.
My other half just wants to schedule recurring recording for the days which are new episodes.

Regrettably the repeats don't feature in the "Recently Deleted" database section so can't use the "New Episode" function and the new episodes are not flagged as New in the EPG.

Using Kodi to schedule you can select specific days but the another way would be to use Schedules Direct if the new files are flagged.

Martin,

Unfortunately the "New" episodes are not flagged as such in the EPG. Our paper TV guide that the wife refers to just marks the ones that are repeats.

Yes it is in my list for filmon and it seems ok  so it looks like SD is the best solution.  I keep years of recently deleted but NextPVR has supported S/E for years so I can see the issue.

If you want to filter season 17 your advanced rule could use a season filter (there are some examples on this forum)

Again Kodi will work too.

Martin,

Thanks for your advice.

As I don't use SD and the OTA EPG doesn't include the Series (only episode number), I found the section in Kodi which allows you to specify which days to include in an EPG search for recuring recordings.
When I submitted the request from Kodi, NPVR's recurring recording showed "All Episodes" instead of just the days I wanted.

I tried testing this on my Test machine and it worked correctly.

I thought this was odd so I checked the database on the production machine and sure enough the recurring recording doesn't have an entry specifying the days. When I check the recurring recording entry on the test machine, the database did have days specified.

It occurred to me that the Kodi instance used with the production machine is XBian on RPi5 and with my test machine it's Kodi on Windows.

I changed the Kodi windows instance to point to the production system and sure enough, I get the correct days added to the Recurring Recording in the database.

Retested with the XBian RPI5 Kodi instance and the days get lost somewhere resulting in "All Episodes" being specified. So it looks like there's a bug in XBian Kodi.

At least I've achieved what I needed. It's a shame the NPVR client doesn't allow selection of specific days for recurring recordings like in Kodi.

Assuming you are using the same version of pvr.nextpvr, I don't think there is a bug but then again with logs there are no problems.

I suggested SD and I know you don't use it but it is the best way to do what you want. The API hasn't changed for a decade and based on the number of users requesting this I don't see it as a high priority.
