It doesn't help debug this issue. However since you aren't using NextPVR for playback you really should disable timing and thumbnail generation they do create unnecessary I/O.
I've turned off thumbnail generation and extended logging. I've also installed the attenuator, just upstream of the PC (so it doesn't affect the signal to the rest of the house, and the net signal should still have a good S/N ratio). I adjusted the attenuator so that WinTV reports a signal quality in the 90% to "just 100%" range. (It's not possible to adjust it more finely, and I've observed that the quality can vary by a few % from day to day or between channels).
Unfortunately I'm still seeing the same glitches in recordings. A couple of notable ones are at 3'42 and 16'08 in the recording of "Valley of the Kings Secret Tomb Revealed_20260117_19302030", coinciding with about 19:30:42 and 19:43:09 in real time.
Logs attached. I can also provide the .TS file if that helps.
Are there any further ideas on what might be causing the problems?
Thanks, Andrew
Hi Martin,
Yes, WinTV (Hauppage) was reporting signal quality ~91% for Channel 4 today, which is pretty much ideal.
Could you tell me what you're seeing in the logs which indicates the signal level? If I know what to look for I can have a go at tweaking the attenuator setting for that rather than the Hauppage value, if that makes sense.
