I'm trying to ascertain why The Last Leg failed to record last night, I have an empty .ts file.
Running version  Version: 7.0.3.250920   on Windows.
I download the logs I see lots of files, but no recording history from yesterday the 30th, everything is from today the 31st.

Oh man now I have to go down the NextPVR rabbit hole. So 2 recordings out of 10 fail.
I can't view live TV from TV guide, says "browser stopped playback", adblock is off.
But NextPVR web app live TV works great, each channel streams perfectly, as does tivimate and android app.
Just tried to record another news program, stops after 15 seconds with...
"HttpIOException: The response ended prematurely. (ResponseEnded)"
"ffmpeg exited. Likely end of VOD."

So your system is basically saying:

I dont see HLS settings..

The real fix (recommended)
✅ Force HLS everywhere
In NextPVR:
  1. Go to
    Settings → Playback
  2. Enable:
    • Use HLS for web playback
  3. Save
  4. Restart the NextPVR service

Unfortunately because you leave your browser running constantly you spam the logs and the information is lost. Best to exit the browser app you want to track this.

Your ChatGPT information is useless hallucinations from Jellyfin or Emby, NextPVR will record HLS if you have set up an m3u8 playlist.

Hi Martin. I've been doing some testing with the browser window closed, so you should be able to garner some relevant information from the logs this time. Over the last 12 hours I've attempted to record 6 programs, with a 50% success rate. half record beautifully, other half just stop after 15 seconds and I'm left with an empty .ts file. You can see from the screenshot every other recording is perfect, plays perfectly in Plex or direct, other half are fails.

My data points are...

From NextPVR Guide I'm NOT able to view Live TV, on Firefox or Chrome.
From NextPVR Web app on Windows I CAN view live TV perfectly without interruptions.
Same with Tivimate on the TV, Live TV works perfectly and recording works too.
Also perfect from Android phone apps.

The logs show the issue with your provider not connecting on the same URL after a URL. The server is closing the connection and we see the message "The response ended prematurely. " rather than redirecting to another URL when it works. You would need to ask your provider why they are closing the connection.

Based on your comment about using apps perhaps this is how your provider responds when you are at a connection limit.

Regarding your comments on I don't have a clue what this distinction between "Guide" and "Web" means

I did see the same "The response ended prematurely" with live TV from the browser so until you resolve that there is not much NextPVR can do.

By this I mean, inside the TV Guide of NextPVR, in the browser, when you open a channel, there is a blue "Watch" button that should bring up the stream, this always fails.

Whereas opening the NextPVR web app, from the icon tray, I can play live tv as happy as Larry, for as long as I want without any interruptions, switch channels at ease, this mismatch in behaviour alone has me troubled.

Also troubling is why this ""The response ended prematurely" never happens on Tivimate, Android apps nor indeed NextPVR Web Player.
And the number of connections isn't an issue because I have 2 connections, and recordings can fail or succeed at night.

I have deleted NextPVR from the Windows machine, rebooted the PC and reinstalled NextPVR...

Still don't know where you see the blue button. Is it possible that your are talking about the Windows client NextPVR.exe showhow.

For the error a quick test would be to watch in tivimate, start a recording and then see what happens in NextPVR on the 3rd attempt.

If you PM me your credentials I could confirm some things from the XC console (which other apps probably use)

OK I'm really at a loss, I think I'll pm you my credentials to test your side, as long as you delete them after! Smile
Spent years trying to get as good a service as this. And I really want to continue using NextPVR I love it and have donated.

This is the blue "Watch" button...

But your web app streams great..

I setup a proxmox VPN setup and no problems with connections, it didn't even limit my to your two connections but the panel is showing me recording with two active connectives.

This is the state of IPTV it is not 100% guaranteed and your service is very temperamental to the VPN source.
