I've recently had a couple of recordings fail and it looks like some of my channels may have had frequency changes I wasn't aware of.

I have channels common to DVB-T and DVB-S merged so for example BBC One HD shows as 6 sources (4 being terrestrial an 2 being Freesat).

If I scan one of my terrestrial tuners, the list of channels it produces shows the frequencies but some of them are satellite frequencies and not the terrestrial ones I was expecting.
Also applying the filters selecting DVB-T doesn't seem to work.

Is there an easy way to work out which frequencies from a scan have changed compared to the ones in the current database?

If I tick an existing channel after a scan and save, will the database get updated with the frequency detected in the scan. If so, will that tuners channel still stay in the merge channel list?

You might need to unmap them to see the difference. the question is why do you have mixed priorities?

Martin,

I haven't fiddled with any priorities so can't answer why that's the case unless it's something to do with whether terrestrial or satellite had the lower channel number when the merge was done.

Whichever, a scan from a terrestrial tuner should only display terrestrial frequencies (or at least the filter do something sensible)

When you say unmap , did you mean unmerge or unmap (as is EPG mapping).

If you mean unmerge that's a lot of manual messing around unmerging and re-merging just to try and work out if any tuning frequencies have changed.

It was a bit simpler with the old V4 before all the frequency stuff went into the database.

I don't fully understand why DVB-T and DVB-S and showing on the Settings->Devices screen so PM me your database and I will have a look.

OK I got the PM and thanks and I understand what you are saying now. Before the scan the list is ok but after the scan it shows some merged channel results maybe based on the freesat EPG status.

I'd like to see the logs after a scan to check the data path. Generally posting the logs with the first post helps.

Martin.

Martin,

Please find attached a copy of the logs immediately after a scan on the 1st terrestrial tuner.
Besides only showing the frequencies associated with that specific tuner scan, there are two things that would be very useful.

1) It would help if the scan result highlighted which channels already were in the database for that tuner and
2) If the channel already was in that tuners database, whether the frequency had changed.

e.g. For 1) highlight the line in say grey and for 2) highlight it in yellow. Or maybe a coloured dot after the line.

At the moment all we get is a list of every channel found with every one of them selected. That's not very helpful when trying to decide on updates especially if a scan returns 100s of results.

Ray, I see this a a multiple set of changes similar to what happens with the HDHRs now. The change will be for DVB-T first since DVB-S is quite different

- The settings channels page shows all channels including channel you don't have enabled. These can be toggled on and off without a scan.
- A scan will show only new channels and frequency changes. Typically new channels will be enabled by default, the first scan after a conversion will be different only frequency changes will be selected
- After a scan save all the tuners on a device will be sync.
- Any fake channel numbering not be LCN will be done after the scan to avoid gaps.

If you are will to test this let me know.

As for the log, it looks like the DVB-T scan was still underway (without save) so they don't help as much I hoped.

I did have a quick look through and other than lot of confusion because several of the That's and Great! channel names don't match the channel data, the biggest problems you have are 4seven and U&W do need to be updated.
