Yes the discover port 16891 is needed but maybe you were blocking the return UDP in bound. Entering 10.0.0.85 should have worked if your PIN is 0000. I see that the pin fields are missing in the json default so maybe your PIN isn't 0000

Pin is 0000. Never changed it. Entered 8866 and 16891 via the terminal because it won't work right using the GUI.

Funny, the keyboard inputs to create the json weren't supposed to work, they were for my early testing.

WOW....UFW is so finicky. On the mini I uninstalled yauiclient and deleted the .yauiclient folder in the home folder Did a reinstall and tried it with the firewall on, did not launch. Turned off the firewall and connected.
So I went into UFW, deleted 8866 and 16891. Then I re-added 8866 and 16891 through the GUI and it worked. Did a second uninstall and deleted .yauiclient folder and reinstalled again and it worked with the firewall activated.
I guess the UDP port wasn't working when entered by the terminal. Only thing I can figure is this is a newer version of UFW and GUFW, I was never able to get a connection by using the GUI before, always had to enter the ports by the terminal. I am going to do the same on the host PC and see what happens there.

Talk about finicky! Did the same firewall setup on the host PC and now nothing connects. No android phone and no yauiclient. Reverted back to the old method by entering 8866 and 16891 by the terminal and got it up and running again. I'll do some firewall tweaking on the mini to see what's going on. This is so weird.

UFW does exactly what it is designed to do by default block incoming connections. Why you even need it on a home network with a good router is debatable but the discovery API does not return on UDP 16891 to the client. Better off allowing all from 10.0.0.85

That worked. Deleted the port enties 8866 and 16891 and just added ip 10.0.0.85. Much simpler. Kept the host PC as is because it talks to multiple devices. So Android, Udroid, and yauiclient are all happy now as well as me.
I think running the firewall is recommended even with a good router since all devices are exposed to the internet. Adds an extra layer of protection even with the Xfinity gateway/router and their advanced network security. Better safe than sorry IMO. I know Windows sets up the firewall settings automatically so no user input is needed, Linux does require a little more setup. Just let everyone know if they are testing the Linux version and running a firewall to add an entry for their host PC. Only applies to a client PC running yauiclient not localhost on the host PC. Definitely a learning experience for me. So consider this phase of the testing solved for now,

Thanks Martin!
