Using webapp and each of the latest npvr versions.

Some subtitles are so off that they're partially cut out of the screen.

However, some other times they are indeed centred. Don't know if channel related, can’t find a pattern.

Using kodi all is fine.

In the webapp we have pretty much no control over the location of DVB Subtitles. This is managed by ffmpeg.

You could try it in the NextPVR desktop app, or yauiclient.

How can DVB subtitles be set to play on all channels by default on the webapp?

I did some searching and a related issue pointed to the ffmpeg command line telling subtitles to stretch when they shouldn’t. Could this be it?

I don't think we're asking it to stretch.

You can look in the nrecord.log and search for ffmpeg to see the command line we're using. Feel free to suggest a better one if you find one.

Did some more testing. Seems to be channel related. Tried on 2 sd channels, their ffmpeg command is virtually the same but perhaps this part has some influence? “-filter_complex "[0Confused:0] scale =-1:-1 [sub],[0:v][sub] overlay"”
But don’t know how or what alternatives to test.

If you want to supply a sample recording (via download link to somewhere like onedrive or googledrive), I'm happy to take a look.

I recorded a bit of the off-centre channel and did some conversions using the same command as from nrecord.log apart from the hls bits and urls.

Using a ffmpeg I have lying around, the subtitles are ok.

Using the ffmpeg from the npvr folder, the output size doubles, it has 2 video tracks, one without subtitles and another with them and off centre.

I uploaded the recorded clip and a ts chunk recovered from the browser cache after playback. They’re at https://filebin.net/ngagerqbvkfforh9

If your other ffmpeg type ffmpeg -v and let us know the version number I suspect it is old.

Try this with your file in "C:\Program Files\NextPVR\Other"\

Code:
ffmpeg -hide_banner -i NCIS.S13E17.ts -filter_complex "[0:v][0:s:0]overlay" -c:v libx264 -preset ultrafast -f mpegts - | ffplay -i -
