Hi,

Is it possible to send key commands to GB-PVR without having to make GB-PVR the active applicaiton/window?

I'm in the mist to getting HIP to provide extra key functions to "make GB-PVR the active window" as it seems all the other keys require this. My issue is that I'd like to do this in a way that doesn't impact a different person who is using the PC/Monitor for other purposes (i.e. one person watch TV/GB-PVR, another one using the PC on primary monitor). I'm using the MCE Remote option in GB-PVR config by the way.

Thanks

I am doing this using the old remote and driver to the PVR350 direct access....That way I can use my PC screen while my Girlfriend uses the GB-PVR menu on the TV-out without "activating" the GB-PVR window! Big Grin

But I would like to use the remote wonder II (RF Remote) is this still possible using this remote?

And if yes how....Girder? or something else?

Thanks

hi Sub - would you have a minute to summarise what the possibilities are here from a GB-PVR software point of view? Does GB-PVR absolutely have to be active to access key commands from software like HIP or Girder? Is there another mechanism? (I'm trying to determine whether GB-PVR supports the sharing concept between TV/GB-PVR usage, and PC usage - at least without having to got to the MediaMVP approach)

casperse - I'd be interested in understanding what you meant by this? Overall however it sounds like you are in the same boat as myself regarding searching for a solution no?

To be honest I dont really know what your options are. I dont use HIP or Girder so I know very little about them. If they can be configured to Window's keystroke messages to a window even its not the foreground window, then you should be able to do it without any problems.

The method casperse describes is not applicable to you, and only works with the Hauppauge PVR250/350 with the older 34 button remote.

Hi sub

[Apologies in advance if this is all possible but its just me that hasn't got it working yet]

I got a response from the HIP support team - could you comment on this? The link is below, however the question which was posed was "So, Hip may not be the program for you....if you use Girder's SendMessage routines, you can do this, or if GB-PVR exposes a COM server for commands you can use this mechanism to send commands as this does not require focus."

http://forums.dvbowners.com/index.php?s=...st&p=38310

[I've been trying with HIP, but based on this information & your response re "if GB-PVR exposes a COM server for commands" then I'll more to trying to get girder working]

thanks

No GB-PVR doesnt exports a COM server. Sounds like you'll either need to use Girder or hope the HIP guys add the PostMessage mechanism for sending keystroke messages directly to the GB-PVR window.

I dont know. I dont have a firefly remote. If the Snapstream software can be configured to send Window's keystroke messages to a window even its not the foreground window, then you should be able to do it without any problems.

See this forum entry on the latest version of HIP, specifically the second message.

http://forums.dvbowners.com/index.php?showtopic=4548

Now I just have to get it all configured as the focus problem was my last issue.

GB-PVR is a really great program and I have been amazed at how easy it was to get running.
