On the suject of screen res:
I am under the impression (could easily be wrong) that for a 4:3 screen and 480lines you need 640 pixels horizontal and for 16:9 you need 854 pixels. This would allow circular circles without resort to eliptical geometry and a calculator :-)
For pal the magic numbers are 768x576 4:3 and 1024x576 16:9.
I used 540 lines in my meedio clone screen because meedio 4:3 skins are 720x540 (exactly 4:3) they also have skins for 960x540 (exactly 16:9). Also by making my 4:3 screen 540lines I was able to copy their font specs etc.
I have contemplated correcting circles on non 4:3 aspect ratio skins by tilting the TV screen down several degrees. Cant see it catching on though. The centre speaker falls off unless attached by unsightly G clamps.
