Has anyone done a DVD cataloguing plug in? I have far to many DVD to put on the HDD but would like to have something in GBPVR that I can keep a record of all my DVD. Would be good if it showed details such as the cover and who stars and synopses etc like some of the web based cataloguing databases.

This was my thought as well when i suggested a Database Plug in. It could be used for other things as well but my DVD collection was my thought. I did get a very rough sort of listing to work using the the webviewer plugin but it was a little too rough for my wife to use and required a lot more tweaking from me to keep it running and up to date.

A XML database reader would get a lot of mileage. There's quite a lot of inspiration to be had from Xlobby in this area

As for the DVD info itself, I prefer DVD Profiler. You can upload your collection, and view it online, and download it to another computer.

describe what features you are thinking about in the database plugin. Then maybe we can get some work on it.

I can only speak for myself here but what i'm trying to get is a simple listing of DVD's i already have in a carousl DVD player. I already keep a database of everything. Title, stars, rating, discripting, etc. I'd be happy to be able to access that database file.

There may be others that would like the plug to create the database and draw from the net for the details if they can be found or make it allowable to crrrect or add missing data. A couple of user defined fields would be needed. In my case i'd need to allow the slot number that the DVD is assigned to available. Creating the database within GBpvr may be the better way to go. Then you're not dealing with a lot of different database files, just one type.

It sure would make it easier to select a DVD in the player if i was able to get to it through GBpvr. I could bring up the database, pick a DVD to watch, get the slot number that it resides in and just pick up the remote and play it.

I wanted to do this as well.. I can do the Access DB, but I don't have programming skills to do the plugin. I turned to a VideoDB php/MySQL on my web page to do it (http://videodb.cahillww.com). It works fine, but I'd like to do this via GBPVR as well.

What I would like is the following.

Title
Actors
Synopsis
Pic of DVD cover
ID number (so I can number all my DVDs and find it easily)
Genre
Star rating
Ability to search via any of the above
May be down load a trailer if available
Option to update list from the GBPVR screen with it linking to one of the online databases.
Ability to print a list of titles.

Jees if only i knew how to program! Big Grin
