In this thread

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ight=NICAM

We had a bit of a discussion about NICAM, where Sub offered the ability to set the audio channel as follows:

Quote:In direct.ini you set AudioLang=0/1/2 for recording default/lang_a/lang_b

I realised recently that the remote on my Broadband Box has a button to switch audio channels.

When I'm downstairs, I'd like to do this audio switch using my MCE remote which came with my MVP (via the USB-UIRT), in the same way as it sends commands to change the Channel and press enter, as:

(a) The above setting does not work with GOSUB devices and
(b) Sometimes NOWBroadband switch the audio channels, so its not always English on 1.

How do I go about mapping the NOWBB Remote key to one of the MCE remote keys VIA the USB-UIRT, in the same way as the Channel Config?

You'd need to use Girder if you wanted to so something custom like this.

Hmmm.

Out of interest, how does GBPVR do it then? I mean if it can learn "1 through 9", "0" and "Enter" in the CONFIG by following the instructions

Quote:Aim your Remote about two inches away from the USB-UIRT IR window, then press and HOLD the *** 1 *** button on your remote. Keep holding this button until you are asked to release"

then by extension could it not also learn an additional keys e.g. when asked to press the ***Audio Key*** (which toggles languages) on the NOWBB Remote, you follow the above instructions. I realise this potentially opens the floodgates for everyone to request you to provide support to learn every single key on everyone's different remotes, so I understand that would/could be way too hard-basket, but ... is it possible that a single key could be mapped in this way?

If I e.g. pushed the NOWBB Remotes audio toggle key when asked to press ***1*** in the USB-UIT setup in config, could I somehow read the codes generated in a text file, add those into the config file generated by the USB-UIRT setup and try and assign a new key name manually?

I'm not saying I couldnt do it or anything, I'm just saying there is currently no logic to do this in GB-PVR, and its not really something I'd really like to add...and you'd already be able to do this today with Girder.

Its also the first time anyone has ever asked for this, which would put it way way down the priority list.

Its actually not as simple as it sounds. There is no direct mapping between MCE keys and the IR signal that end up being sent out of the USB-UIRT.

Alrighty, no worries, Sub, thanks for the feedback on it anyway.

I might have a crack at Girder, or wait until lots of other folks request it :-)

Cheers
