Sub, I'm glad to see you added the ads. I don't mind them as I'm sure you're the one benefiting from them. Just for the time you put in on the boards you deserve whatever compensation you can get.

I don't know if you have any control over the ads themselves, but some of the ones showing are puzzling crossovers. I get adds for Mazda Mitata accessories on the New Posts page, which I'm 100% clicking on just out of obligation. Whatever determines the cross-promotional link value of that association must be doing some six-degrees of separation to come up w/ the relevance.

Yeah, some of the ads have been a bit strange. I'll try it out for month, and see how many dollars come in from it. There are some other possibly better targeted advertising programs I'll look into after that. I think their AdSense technology doesnt work so well with forums. Hardware supplier ads would have been great but I dont have any control over the ads google dishes up.

I really dont like adding advertising to the site, but you get money where you can...

Hiya... just FYI, unfortunately the recent ad-dition to the site is incompatible with Opera. When using the Search facility, the search box now appears behind the advert so can't be used :-(

So how do you get paid for the adds? Do we just have to click through? If that's what it takes Let me know.

Google AdSense program works on both impressions (views with in the GB-PVR page) and click through rate, with the latter providing $$$ at a faster rate. That said, as much as I would benefit from it, I dont want to artifically encourage people to click on ads since thats against the rules.

Reviving old threads is fun... =) You can right click the "search" part and then choose "open in new page" or "open in background page" as a workaround =)

FWIW, I added adsense to my wife's website for her digital conversion business; ironically, the majority of the ads were for competitors and there was no easy way for me to blacklist them - I couldn't add terms to blacklist, only individual sites so every time I added one to the blacklist it was replace with another. It was like whack-a-mole.
