Converting to Xvid, How?

I am begining to feel the pain of mpeg2 for my recordings as I am running out of room. I wanted to try the autoconversion in GB-PVR, and it seems that Xvid is the best option (I tried WMV and the quality is awful). However, it is not listed as an option? I am assuming that I need to install Xvid, but is there a specific version I should use?
