I've searched the forums here and not sure of this answer. Has anyone gotten the following to work? GBPVR, Media-MVP and Directv D10-300 receiver. I've run the IR blaster config and there doesn't seem to be a code set to control the D10. I searched the Hauppauge site and I have the latest software release. The serial control cable doesn't work with the D10-300 so that thats not answer. Anyone have an answer? Sad

I've got a hold of a D10-100 so I'm going to try the serial utility and cable. I'll post results...

Here's what I done so far:

1) downloaded DirecTV Channel Control v1.0 and installed in a directory off gbpvr
2) made up a cable
3) connected it to COM1 on my PC and the data port on my Directv D10-100
4) gbpvr config I set the executable file to C:\Program files\devnz\gbpvr\utilities\directv.exe
5) Under Parameters I have, -port COM1 #{channel}
6) zero pad numbers checked

I still can't switch channels. To make sure cable I made is working I downloaded DirecTV Control ver 1.82. Using this I can change channels and get signal strength. So this confirms that my cable, com port and data port are working. It looks like gbpvr isn't communicating with the Channel Control program. Anyone have a suggestion?

I am having the same problem. Along with the directv channel control program, SageTV and BeyondTV are also able to control my 10-300 directv box.

From everything I've read it looks like the D10-300 doesn't work. I have the D10-100 working except for locals and hopefully will have that fixed later tonight...

In regards to the D10-300. Here is some information I picked up off Google:

== FROM THE INTERNET: http://mythtv.org/pipermail/mythtv-users...07586.html

Hi everyone -

Just wanted to report a success story to the list, in case others are in the same situation. I got a new D10-300 DirecTV receiver and tried to figure out if it can change channels via serial cable. Google searches turned up lots of messages saying it doesn't work, but it sounded like a few people using BeyondTV got it to work, so theoretically it should work with Myth too. Well, I did get it to work, and here's how to do it:

1. Buy a cable from http://dtvcontrol.com (even though they say this receiver is not compatible) - though if you have nimbler fingers than me, feel free to make your own from parts from Radio Shack (I couldn't deal with the tiny wires in the handset cord).

2. Update the software on the receiver itself. To do this, open the access card door and press the little red reset button; as soon as it resets and the "Hello" message is displaying on the screen, press 02468 on the remote. This needs to be done relatively quickly, before the message goes away. Press the numbers only once, and don't hit Enter afterwards. If you did it right, you should see a message saying "Downloading new software". If not, hit reset and try again. After it downloads the new software, your receiver will respond to the Low-Speed Serial with the D10-100 command set.

3. Peel off the little black sticker on the back of the receiver that hides the Low-Speed Serial port and plug the cable in there. Plug the other end into a free serial port on the Myth box.

4. Download the directv.pl file at http://www.pdp8.net/directv/directv.shtml. Make it executable and set it as your channel changing script from mythsetup; I use the command:
"/usr/local/bin/directv.pl box_type D10-100 setup_channel" (Myth appends the channel number to the end of the command).

This is exactly what I did, and my box now changes channels flawlessly, so I'm a happy camper. Hope this information helps someone else out there.

the 10-300 box can be controlled via a serial port since directv released the new firmware about a month back

Did you set any other options on the command line? For example, the box type or the command set to use? If not, I would like to modify the program to make that more clear to other potential users that the D10-300 is using the RCA box type and command set.
