I have recently added a HDTV card to my GBPVR box which is setting under my Samsung DLP TV. Frequently, whenever I turn the TV on, my computer reboots, or hangs. I isolated this to the new HD card (Fusion Lite 5) by unpluging the antenna cable from the card, which makes the problem go away. Of course, that means I cannot watch HDTV anymore, or just keep unplugging/plugging forever.

I know it is some kind of interference, I just do not know enough about this to figure out how to fix it. The only link between the TV and the computer is the DVI cable from my graphics card (Nvidia FX5200).

Any ideas for a workaround/fix?

Thanks

Well off the top of my head you could run the coax through a powerstrip that has F-connectors and see if you experience the same problems.

Buy some of that really expensive Electrically shielded coax cabling. Try the top of the line Monster Cables. They'll run you about 50 bucks for 5 feet, but its worht a try.

Could be some sort of grounding issue. Does it happen if the TV is off to the side of the HTPC, instead of being on top of it?
Yes = grounding. a large voltage spike coming through the cable shield from the TV to the HTPC. Solution: be sure the bracket on the tuner card is screwed tight to the case of your PC, and that the case of the TV section of the tuner card is electrically connected to the PC case. An in-line cable lightning arrestor screwed to the side of the PC case might also work, since it grounds the shield nicely.

NO= Electromagnetic interferance, from the degausser in the TV or the high voltage supplies. Solution: keep the TV off of the HTPC!
