NEWS FLASH: ninemsn attempts to cause damage to the WAF for my PVR. :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

Anybody in Australia got a good program that will output files which the gb-pvr XMLTV plugin can accept?? I was previously using TVHarvest and as most aussie's know this no longer works.

Tried another proggy called JavaXMLTVGrabber2; it doesn't seem to output a file that gb-pvr can read.

Will use bladerunner if I have to, however from other threads it seems this may have problems too.

I use TVxB.
Bit hard to configure and not that user-friendly (no gui) but is free and MOST of the stock config files should work out of the box. I even managed to change some of the defaults ...massive for e me :-)

I can help you get it going if you like, as much as I am able.

Can you PM me and share you .ini

One thing to note - last night I was able to D/L the .ini from the tvxb site.
Now if you check under Australia you get a nice message that your only choice is to pay .......

PS - I live in Adelaide & have added the .ini for you to tryout/spot the fault

GBPVR V0.95.11 can read the file created by JAVAXMLTVgrabber2.

Apologies, I didn't see your reply for a while. Yeah it's not simple to configure, I'll grant you that! I actually don't live in Oz, so I don't have an ini for you. I was just suggesting TVXB as an alternative. One of my stations (pay) just changed listing website address and system, so I have to try and redo it. The TVXB guy would probably go spare trying to do all (and keep up with all) the listings (e.g. 300 channels in US alone...) so he relies on folks who have had a go and got it working, to send him the ini's. He has tried to setup his program so you just input the listings address and it will semi-auto configure it, but it doesn't work that automatically ... you need to read the developers guide ... which can be a bit "too hard basket". I'm just lucky that the developer lives in the same place I do, so my country.ini is generally updated more often for me :-)

Having said that, if you want to have a go, while the http://www.tvxb.com/country.htm for Oz says "free to air only" it doesn't mean you have to pay (its still free), it just means that the ini that has been configured and is available (and submitted by some poor sod that has been through the hoops configuring it) is currently ONLY for FTA channels. If you know what pay channels you want to "grab" off the web, you can visit their websites and they will have the listings. What you THEN need to do is try and configure TVXB (or some other grabber) to "grab" those listings (You can then post your succesful country.ini attempts for the next poor fellow :-) )

Perhaps peter t can give you the ini associated with his grabber JAVAXMLTVgrabber2? There may be other free grabbers too (some are noted on TVXB Page and a host of others are listed here http://membled.com/work/apps/xmltv/ (See below)), which produce an XMLTV file, which ALREADY have a country.ini for Oz...

JAVAXMPTVGrabber2 is written for Australia and grabbs data from NINEMSN search site. It is easy to configure, edit the settings.prop file using notepad, all you need to change is the location number at the end of the page. This program is also capable of producing pay TV XML files. I have added working files. (i hope ) oops maybee this time

Do you have a direct link for JAVAXMPTVGrabber2. Google doesn't throw much up on it (as in nothing)
Nor does JAVAXMPTV Grabber2 or JAVA XMPTV Grabber2 ??

Oops sorry for the typo try "JavaXMLTVGrabber2" I don't have a direct link, all I know is it was written by "null pointer" who also wrote "web scheduler"

Thanks for the response guys.

The only problem with aformentioned 'grabber' is the limited amount of description it gives.

However in the past few days this has totally solved my problem:

It works really well, needs some slight adjustments out of the box (designed for webscheduler), but it has the full magoo in terms of information parsed.

I am currently using an http://www.icetv.com.au to manually download an XML EPG one week at a time.

I do this because my Topfield set top box only retrieves current program and next program from the (Austrlian) networks which was under impression this was all you can get for free.

Obviously I want more EPG for GBPVR which is why I use IceTV.

I have read this thread and checked out some links but was only more confused.

Now, all that said, the questions is: is there a better way to do Australian EPG?
