I completely agree ... the only skin thats that I have found that display well on the MVP are the Fat Blue - Hi Vis and the XMEDIA - DX skins.

I particularly like how the Fat Blue - Hi Vis skin is laid out, but I do find that there are issues with respect to various plugin (ex: XGuiide) where the font sizes cause overlap or "off the screen" conditions, and where thing like the keypad for FastFind are still not readable unless you are close to the TV (especially on a 27 incher like mine is).

So, my point is that when you are thinking in terms of new skin design keep readability from across the Fromm on a TV in mind, as I would assume based on my read of the many forum posts that there are quite a few of us who use gbpvr predominantly on an MVP and probably many of us who have not yet graduated to the large screen format.

Thanks for all of your great work!!!

Actually I've found the TV plays a big role. The default blue skin looks great on one of my TVs, as good as on the PC monitor, yet if I move the same MVP to another TV I find it weak looking and hard to read. I was very surprised by just how different they were. The one looked really good was just an average old cheap TV.

Just what I wanted to here.

Thanks

So it's just the video quality that limits a skin's use with the MVP? I thought maybe it was color depth or skin file size/complexity/ultimately speed limitation.

Well, I hoped to have mine ready for others to try yesterday, but I wanted to make sure all the default plugins were skinned (things I don't use but others might like the radio) and didn't quite get it finished before bed last night. I'll have it ready tonite tho... and I look forward to the MVP impressions and people with smaller TVs (since my bro-in-law uses an MVP). BTW, it is very readable at 14ft distance on my 36" TV.

It is partially video quality. As I said a few posts back. I've found the TV plays a big role. I agree that it is the TV. When I upgraded my TC from a decade old big screen tube TV to a plasma, skins that were just a bunch of burry dots became readable. That is when I switched to bluemce2, which looks outstanding on the plasma through the MVP and looked horrible before.

Sounds like a skinner's efforts would be futile.

We skin for what we know.
If it looks good on OUR tv, and monitor, we release it.
If others using it, were to give some good feedback, we might consider improving/modifying it, but nobody ever says boo, unless it outright doesn't work, then they blame gbpvr, not the skin/skinner Big Grin

I always ask for feedback, and have a very obvious link on my web page, to email me. Nobody has ever used it.
Now I skin for me, and my family. I do release the odd one every now and then, but I've given up caring if it works for anyone else or not.
I think I got 1 person, who actually mentioned that they liked a skin, but I have no idea if they're using it or not.
You can never have enough tuners!
