Since the last few updates, my family has been complaining that the server PC is acting very slow. I since have started monitoring the CPU and RAM usage while GBPVR is running. I have been noticing the same issue with GB of ram and seeing messages saying running out of virtual memory. If I stop GBPVR the memory will go back down. I am starting to go Thur and remove plugin's one by one to see if it is a plugin issues.

other then that 95.16 did fix my other issues.

Thanks

If I turn an MVP on and then off, and then run a program on the server (like internet explorer), GBPVR starts using up the CPU and the RAM usage starts creaping up. I surfed some web pages and got GBPVR to take over 165 MB of RAM and it never gives it up. It does this to the point where the server is almost too slow to use.
Its funny, every release I get a few people say 'wow - this release is so much faster than the last release' whilst at the same time a few people say 'this release is slower, what gives?'. I havnt really changed anything that I cant think would make it faster or slower, or use significantly more memory. The new ability to use Windows Media Player for music may add a bit, but not until you actually play music, and these modules arnt loaded if you're using an MVP.

Quote:The server is an AMD Athlon 3200+ with 512MB RAM. On the server/MVP, I am running Video Library, My Pictures, My Music, Net Radio, and Weather (with only one city).

I have other plugins installed but not checked, does GBPVR still maintain those plugins if they aren't checked? Should I remove any plugin dlls that I am not using to try to lower the overhead?
Yes, the plugins are still loaded. The well behaved plugins dont do any initialisation (load images/consume memory etc) until you actually view the plugin. I think the MyXxxx plugins will load stuff straight away, so yes, these can be consuming a lot of memory even if they are disabled in the config app. It might be worth temporarily removing all the files from your "c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\plugins" directory to see if it helps.

That's an interesting thing about software. I've noticed similar things about systems we develop. When we make some change the client may very well say 'boy you really improved the performance' this time when in fact the change was truly inconsequential and couldn't realistically have changed the performance.

I don't know how much of it is real or imagined but people perceive it to have changed for better or worse.

I just tried playing back video in GBPVR locally on the PC and got this message. I was on 95.14, now on 95.16 same thing. I didn't see anything in the logs.

I always use GBPVR via MVP, and was testing something on the PC itself.
3x MVPs (not used anymore)
XBMC
Hauppauge 150 via SVideo
Comcast Digital Cable
Motorola HD Cable box channel changed via Firewire
Vista Home Premium with RDP hack
AMD Athalon 64 5000+
340gig sata, plus 80SATA+3x160IDE Drives in XP machine for storage.

can you post your gbpvr.exe-native.log?

Its some debug version of a directshow filter, which is encountering a problem. I can tell its not one of mine, becuase I use release version which wouldnt generate this error, and also because the path listed isnt where I build my directshow filters.

I noticed with version .15 and .16 after about several minutes of live tv it stutters for a few seconds then the audio will be delayed several seconds. This occurs anywhere between 2 and 10 minutes from beginning the program. I've tried all the audio/video decoders with little difference. The only log that seems to show something specific at those times is the gbpvr.exe.log. It shows the following:

12/10/2005 11:08:30 AM.578 VERBOSE [3350] RecordingFactory.loadSchedule()
12/10/2005 11:08:30 AM.578 VERBOSE [3350] getValue cached value: /settings/AutoRemoveMissingRecordings : true
12/10/2005 11:08:31 AM.468 VERBOSE [3350] RecordingFactory.loadSchedule()
12/10/2005 11:08:31 AM.468 VERBOSE [3350] getValue cached value: /settings/AutoRemoveMissingRecordings : true

The stuttering started at 11:08. I've zipped the 3 logs that are updated at that time in case I'm missing something. I'm running an Athlon 64 2800+ w/1.25 gb RAM on XP SP2 with a PVR-150 and 150MCE.
Thanks

I wonder what I mucked with. I just got a Gameboy Advance Movie Player http://www.movieadvance.com and it has a conversion program to convert any video. I wonder if it altered something? I will be able to watch tv shows on a gameboy advance (or DS) now! Now if GBPVR could autoconvert to that format...

I'd guess its most like to do with the 'Morgan Stream Switcher'.
