Although I like the layout, I tend to steer away from 'fixed center button' menus because I find them a little hard to use. The test under button just jumps suddenly from one to the next. I keep missing the selection I want.
I feel these would be easer to use, and easier on the eye if the button/text scrolled smoothly up and down.
In fact, I would go so far to say that it would be pretty damn sexy!
In the extreme it would be nice if the button accelerated, coasted, then deaccelerated to a halt. But this is just the engineer in me coming out.
