I also have some trouble sending my pc to hibernation. But i know exactly that the Soundgraph imon remote application is the problem, if deactivated all works fine but then i don't have a remote. Maybe someone has an idea here.

I've already posted an idea to the whishlist to solve the problem and maybe some other hibernation/standby problems too. Maybe someone could write a plugin that would force the pc to hibernation or standby after let's say 10 minutes without any activity of gbpvr.

In theory, Windows should be handling the standby/hibernation after a certain period. I used to have the same problem with my machine, until I discovered the program that was preventing my machine from hibernating. I believe that windows is monitoring non-activity by reviewing the cpu cycles, this can viewed from the Task Manager. It should be a total of less than 5 CPU cycles for all running programs/services before the hibernation/standby kicks in. That means that no background process, not only programs, should be running to prevent the system from hibernating. However, Microsoft also stated a known bug that will be prevent hibernation if your mem is 1GB and above, I just can't get the link to that microsoft note. Also, you might want to check out this link re: hibernation http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_standby.htm

Hi,
Lets make it more confusing,...
Had it working for over 3 month.
Then,
I think mid november it didn't sleep anymore.
Since a week or so, it sleeps again.

Have NO idea what caused this (both changes).
Only modification i did is to download the cdplayer plugin, but i cannot imagine that caused it.
Use my machine for gbpvr only.
fully dedicatd to livingroom.
Have vnc running (for over 6 month now).

The only thing i can think of is an automatic virusscanner- or windows-update.
I will not further elaborate,
just to let you knwo how confusing these things can be.

I manually put in the machine into hibernate through a scheduled task. When I do that, the computer does not wake up from Hibernate. But when the computer automatically goes into hibernate following the Windows timeframe, it wakes up fine

A newbie to gbpvr but I also had problems getting machine to drop back into standby -- a search of other forums pointed to my SoundMax application being the culprit -- the SoundMax drivers are okay but the app won't let the PC drop back to sleep.

I never really was satisfied with the combination of hibernation/standy and gbpvr.
Standby often disturbed my wireless LAN card. gppvr-client would stop showing something on the screen after wakeup no matter it I used standby or wakeup. I have to kill gbpvr.exe task after wakeup and start a new instance.
Perhaps in some Years when sub (maybe) will have implemented wake-up support for computers which have really shut down. (wakeup information is stored in NVRAM) Perhaps then it will be possible for me to have a very simple configuration...

Today I still have some unsolved problems:
When my computer wakes up from hibernation (because I use the power button) it will hibernate again after some minutes when I do not touch the remote control. This annoys me, especially because I have set a timout of 1 hour in the energy settings...
Also I have the problem that my computer will hibernate while XMLTV is running... strange!

Does someone know how to tell Windows NOT to hibernate? perhaps a command in the beginning and end of a batch file?
