I don't think so, unless when you sign up for an account on a specific site, their terms of service says that you must display ads.

Anyway, I'm currently checking out other options - SportsLine isn't the only Web site that displays sports scores, and I'm certainly not going to do it without their permission now after plugging GB-PVR to the CBS SportsLine legal department Smile

nkh - ExactScores.com may actually work for this. I don't see anything on their site that says that you must use their multitude of ads along with the scores, and they provide XML. The site does look a bit shady, though. With my luck, it'll probably shut down the day I launch the plugin Smile

- from SportsLine.com's terms of service

I've got an email in to their legal department asking for "express written permission". We'll see how that goes...

I don't buy that. I've been using the above links as IFrames in websites of mine for years. It all started as a php-nuke block, and I really don't see how it's any different.

Why not use an RSS feed? Google has tons of RSS feeds you can subscribe to for sports scores. In fact, you could probably already get the info you want through the existing RSS plugin. I'm sure one of the major sports sites must support RSS feeds for scores besides news.

The feeds from Google that I was able to find have sports scores as an article after the fact, and it seems that these are intertwined with sports news stories as well. The major sports sites have everything available as RSS feeds EXCEPT for scores... In any case, I think I can make this thing work with ExactScores.com. I'll probably start development on this after the holidays using this.

This thread looks interesting. Sport scores would be great to have pop up on the tv.

UK Cinema Listings scrapes from html source, very ugly code to do this. Finding a sports XML or RSS feed would be much better.
