Hi,
Splendid functionality so far.

Just worked my way through 'getting dvd-recording to work'.

Some though:
-> some basic vide-editing woruld be nice.

If i record over 2hours, i can no longer record a dvd without leaving gbpvr.

Generally:
-> i have a recorded tail of 20 minutes, since brodacasters (especially belgium) tend to be less accurate with timing.
-> i have commersials included.

Just some way to cut the tail and probably cut some commercials would be nice.

==========
Nothing fancy recuired:
E.g. during playback:

-> some button:
submenu:
[cut from here to end]
[cut from begin to here]
[set start of cut section]
[set end of cut section]
[cut section]
[cancel]
After choosing irreversable cut-action:
"You are going to cut mmConfuseds. Are you sure?"
[yes]/[No]

==================
'Could' also be part of e.g. [My Video] Plugin

i would also like to see this type of plugin, i think someone tried working on one a while ago, not sure how far they got. it would be nice if any plugin could call this function, ie if you use my videos could call edit from my videos, if you use video arch could call edit from that etc.

If a plugin can feed keys to another application then you could remote-controll comskip.

Fire it up with the generated .txt file (or an empty file of you want to do it manually), send the translated remote control keys to edit and write oute the edit list

thats an idea (only work on pc though, unless you capture the comskip ui screen and send that through...).

im assume the comskip ui (only ever ran it by gbpvr, so no idea how it works..) would work fine with a remote ie a button to start a "commerical segment" using arrows to move around etc. oh and can it be run in fullscreen? if not would you consider making it more "pvr friendly"? (ie dont make it look like a windows app).

From the manual.

Quote:When started with the .txt file as its single parameter the video preview windows starts a full resolution windows at position 0,0 and the frame number is shown and in the debug bar small black bars show the location of the detected commercials.

Navigation can be done with the cursor keys and with page up/down
The ‘n’ key jumps to the next end of a detected commercial.
The ‘p’ key jumps to the previous beginning of a commercial.
The ‘b’ key sets the beginning of the commercial that ends after the current frame position
The ‘e’ key sets the end of the commercial that begins before the current frame position.
The ‘i’ key inserts a short commercial at the current location
The ‘d’ key deletes the commercial around the current frame position
The ‘w’ key writes the current commercial list to the .txt file.
The esc key exits Comskip

So if a plugin spawns a console application running comkip with the .txt file as an argument and it sends key's to control comskip (or do you know a better way?, I am open for suggestions) its all non windows ui you will see, actually comskip has no ui. If needed I can make the video scaled down with a factor 2.
If you know how to send keys then I can make the needed changes (if any).

if someone knows a solution, just post!

Would be kind of nifty. Then I wouldn't need to use tmpgenc as much. ;-)

erik could you possible use overlay to display the editting points on top of the video, and possible allow for this to be skinned? and make it fullscreen without a window border?

i suffer from overscan on my tv and when i run comskip with a passed .txt file the top bar is pretty much cut off.

im not sure how easy "overlay" is (better than vmr7/9 probably here since you can update it at any stage, vmr7/9 only when video is playing back (well according to sub)) but it would make it feel more like a part of gbpvr and less like a windows app.

also if theres no comskip file to begin with (or if i just create a blank .txt file) the comskip window just closes start away, can you make it so it doesnt.
