Jeff Wrote:No. What are you trying yto do? While you can't have more than one VAPanl, you can write additional panels that use the same underlying message queue to display messages. As an example, I wrote a second panel called AlarmPanel that just shows the higest 2 priority levels of messages (which today are only used for low disk space warnings) and otherwise shows nothing. The source of the example is at http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/uploads/Developm...mPanel.zip.

Jeff

Will the low disk space warnings be displayed in both panels?

I didn't mean to side step your question.

I would like to have a music display panel which is not tied to any specific music plugin, that only shows itself if music is actually playing.

It would also be good if redundent information were not displayed in the VAPanel.

Between your two examples, I suspect all the code is there.

BTW, my current 10-minute understanding is that there is only one set of message queues, the VAPanel queues and that the alarm panel peeks into that set's high priority queue. Close?

Yes, you are right that there is only one set of queues and that alarm panel just looks at the first entry in the two highest prioirty queues. The VAPanel looks at the highest prioirty queue that has a message and then cycles through those. If there is a low disk space warning posted, it would show up in both panels unless you have skinned the VA Panel to not display priority 1 and 2 messages.

But it has a dependency on MyMusic.

No it doesn't. I'm using MusicLibrary2 as my music plugin.

That sounds good. Do me a favor and checkout the very last line in the MusicPanel description in the documentation wiki. Maybe it's not up to date

that means that if you playing a "cda" file (ie playing an audio cd track), the correct info (ie "Artist","album" etc) will only show up in the panel, if you have previously looked up this info and its found in the mymusic database.

other wise it will just show up as "Track01" etc.

the music panel so far has showed every music plug i've tried, and i tried the mall so far. I do wish whoever wrote it would update it to show ID3v2 tags so i would be able to see cover art embedded in some files.

So what is the mymusic database?
