your Slimm* files did go to the gbpvr folder. also, the screen grab i took was after the recording. during the recording the bubble only listed what was currently recording. after it went idle again, the bubble shows what is shown on the screenshot.

i checked my config.xml and the Provider=Micro...etc string is exactly as you listed it above.

as a further test, i added a recording which will occur ahead of the two recordings that were listed in the bubble previously. now the new recording and the first of the previous two are listed. it certainly appears to be showing only the next two recordings.

I have just started trying your SlimmGBPVR and have some feature requests. Could you please consider adding some features that I have been using in the PVRPowerTray utility (I have attached the utility to my post as it appears to have disappeared from the forums. It was last updated in August 2005)

PVRPowerTray has a really nice setup for viewing pending programs. Right click on icon and you can choose:
- View All Pending (# Programs)
- View Pending within 24 hours (# Programs)
- View Pending Today (# Programs)

Then when you click on any of the above it brings up a nice window which allows one to scroll through the pending shows. Also included in the window is all the details about the pending show: including name, day, date, time from and to, channel, description of show, duration, recording starts in # hours, # minutes, # seconds. I find it very useful.

It use the icon is very useful. Flashing Green "OFF" when not recording and chaning to a Red "ON" when recording. I can see that from quite the distance.

Yeah, I looked at this utility myself and it was the reason I had a butchers at rolling my own.

The pending and detailed recording information are on my to do list. They will be implemented as a menu, however. It is my intention to add a detailed tool tip to each recording listed in the menu that also supports the "folder.jpg" or "default.jpg" facility of Windows Explorer that is also used by the video archive plugin.

The reason only a limited number of shows are displayed in the balloon is that there are a limited number of characters available in a balloon tip. In my experiments I found that the amount I could display equated to about 5 short lines and, so, not enough space for all the information you may wish for.

You can, I believe, set a shortcut to GBPVR that will open on the recordings page (instead of the main menu) and I will not be implementing a window-based interface for Slimm GBPVR as GBPVR is already a window-based interface.

There were two things I didn't like about PVRPowerTray. One was CPU usage which was higher than it needed to be (consistently between 2 and 20%, mine is 0% except when a balloon appears). The other was... the flashing icon. It really really annoyed me. Perhaps this is because I use my PC as a PC doing all my work, development, gaming, editing etc on it (aswell as the recording and watching of media) and so the constantly flashing icon in the corner really was distracting.

I will not be implementing a flashing icon but it is my intention to allow you to choose an icon or image file to use for the recording / not-recording states.

I'm having the same problem as ecorbin:
1) Sometimes (including right now), the balloon says "There are no recordings scheduled" when there are. Right now, the next recording is a little over two hours away and then there are 7 other recordings after that today.
I've enclosed the log file which shows the repeated error message:RecordingDate error Index and length must refer to a location within the string.Parameter name: length.
It does show the correct program when recording and otherwise, seems to work fine.
Thanks for your help.

Version 1.0.

I have uploaded a new version (1.0.2201.23662) with much more detailed error reporting in the affected areas. I would greatly appreciate it if you could install and run this version and then post the error log back here.

Thanks for your help and please continue to post bugs and feature requests.

Yours, Mister Slimm

ok, now we're talking. running your updated version i got a whole lot of this in the error log:

Quote:SlimmGBPVR.exe Information: 0 : Started at 06-01-10 19:09:20

SlimmGBPVR.exe Error: 0 : RecordingDate Could not convert '20051218' to System.DateTime
PARAM RecordingFileName='D:\TV Recordings\Nature\Nature_20051218_20002100.mpg'
PARAM UseSystemFormat=False
LOCAL FirstUnderscoreIndex=30
LOCAL UnderscoreIndex=39
LOCAL RecordingYear=2005
LOCAL RecordingMonth=12
LOCAL RecordingDay=18
ERROR=String was not recognized as a valid DateTime.

SlimmGBPVR.exe Error: 0 : RecordingDate Could not convert '20051216' to System.DateTime
PARAM RecordingFileName='D:\TV Recordings\Frontline\Frontline_20051216_01000200.mpg'
PARAM UseSystemFormat=False
LOCAL FirstUnderscoreIndex=36
LOCAL UnderscoreIndex=45
LOCAL RecordingYear=2005
LOCAL RecordingMonth=12
LOCAL RecordingDay=16
ERROR=String was not recognized as a valid DateTime.

SlimmGBPVR.exe Error: 0 : RecordingDate Could not convert '20051221' to System.DateTime

it seems to be populating the year/month/day fields properly, but it still complaining. strangely, these are all old programs that have already been recorded, all from yester-year as well. i do use an uncommon date format (yy-mm-dd) in windows but i am not sure that is coming into play here.

btw, your new version still only shows the next 2 upcoming recordings.

I thought I'd just pipe up and say that version 1 for me looks fine here - all 4 recordings showing. What's more, the old icon is back :p

As always, thanks for the feedback and bug reports. This is version v1.0.2203.28235.

Bug fixes:
  • RecordingDate would return "Today at {0}" instead of "Today".
  • Some people reported that pending recordings were not displayed or the wrong number of pending recordings were displayed. I think I have finally tracked down and eliminated this bug. Please confirm.
  • "Just found a little quirk - when I restart the recording service from the menu it always brings up the warning that I am currently recording a programme, even though I'm not. There is no programme name listed, just blanks." - bluesxman.

sounds good. i'll give it a try.

strangely, immediately after installing your last version, i was seeing 1 or 2 pending recordings being listed in the bubble. as of this morning though, i am seeing 4...
