yah i have no clue how to do that stuff and i have a crappy integrated audio on this comp.
Yah i guess that would be a average rate..
I watch live tv on this card sometimes too i dunno what to do to boost the audio =/... while not going to play something else and having my speakers go crazy

See my last edit post, but if you want 3500, turn it from VBR to CBR.

If you want it to always be higher, you can leave the VBR on and raise the 3200 to a higher number, closer to 7200. You could also turn on CBR, and chaneg the 3200 to 7200, so it's always 7200.

I find there's a point, on my tv/setup, that you can't notice anymore. I have my live quality at VBR 4300/5700

hmmm maybe i was editing wrong you dont select which one to use... you edit the live tv and those others are edits for when you record?
my live tv is 4500/7200 and audio 48 also tho .. which is fine. I think

Live is what is used to watch TV. Medium is the default for recording. I have 4300/5700 VBR for live, and 4700 CBR for recording. I keep audio at 224/48, because a) the reciever is expecting a 48Khz signal, and b) I think nothing ruins viewing enjoyment like bad sound...even more so than picture

Does the bitrate seem to increase space consumption much? if it is major id leave it where it is but if i get better picture for like nothing why not.

A higher bitrate will increase the file size. eg, you said your recording of that show (assuming it was the same 30min) was 1.3Gb. Mine was 1Gb. Small diff, but on only a 200 or so bit difference.

Nothing will tell you want rate ot set at like seeing it. The best way to test something is to try the extremes. Change the recording Medium (write down the current lvls) to CBR for a min, and put the the rate at 3200 and record. Then change it to 7200 and record more of the same show (somethign like CNN, HN, MSNBC, etc, is good, because the news crawl at the bottom is hard on the encoding, and a good stress test). Then put it on 3200/7200 VBR.

See if and where you see a difference, look at the file sizes (make sure to record the same amount of time. If you do 1min apiece, you can multiply by 30 or 60 to get a rough cost for a show), and decide what you want, and what you can afford.

My decoders must be good or this option doesnt work for me i saw NO diffrence between 2000bit rate and 12000 bit rate... i tried news and i tried spike tv...

There will be a differnce in file size. If there isn't, you're doign something wrong. If there was, and it's just visually the same, go w/ 2000 then and save a lot of space.

Btw, you can't get 12000, even though you can type it in. I think sub said somethign above 8000 or so was the phycial limit (you may be able to find the post if you search)
