Currently I only provide an option to 'Record' and dont really give you any control over the quality.

I'm thinking about allowing you to setup a couple of user defined quality levels. For example, pressing enter on a programme in the TV Guide would replace the 'Record' button with 'Record HQ' and 'Record SQ' (standard and high quality). You could then use the WinTVCap config screen to define what bitrate/resolution etc these relate to. Would this provide enought flexibility, or would you need access to all available quality levels when initiating a recording?

I'm trying to run the fine line between an easy to use simple UI, whilst providing enough features that peoplw will want to use it.

When in the config section for wintvcap do you pull out the settings for DVD, etc. from the wintvcap.ini or have you got default settings for DVD, SVCD, etc.

It probably would be useful when in GB-PVR to be able to decide to record LowQ, MediumQ or HighQ without having to go to the configuration to redefine these.

I would guess bitrate/resolution/audio would be enough. I can't remember off hand what other options wintvcap offers,

Cheers,

I was thinking I'd change the wintvcap configuration screen to have a couple of dropdown combo's. One for High Quality. One for Standard Quality. Maybe one for Low Quality. Each of these combos would show the list of profiles from the WinTVCap ini file.

I'd default them to sensible defaults. ie HQ = DVD etc.

Is this what you'd want?

In this way you could record in HQ,SQ (and maybe LQ). You'd have the ability to change the defaults if you needed to, but should give the functionality that most people would use.

That sounds fine. I'm thinking along the lines of some people may do the combination of VCD, SVCD and DVD encodes. Some may prefer various levels for DVD quality encodes.

I think having 3 options offers good flexibilty without causing confusion in GB-PVR.

To suit those that will not be concerned about options the user can choose which one it the default recording option

Cheers,
