Hi

I really like SlimmGBPVR - lots of handy features. However just two problems I've run into -

1) at startup the splash screen always seems to be corrupted (after about 10sec or so it switches to the GBPVR transparent logo and then does a wipe-up and disappears. Perhaps there could be an option to do without the splash all together?

2) since installing Slimm I've found that my MVPTrayIcon has disappeared - it used to work fine with the original GBPVRTray but has now gone - I know that's not the case for all users (given the screenshot above this post!) but it's vanished on mine Sad If I run another MVPserver then an extra one appears as expected, but the original one is still missing (I've expanded the system tray to make sure Windows hadn't just hidden it!).

Thanks for any suggestions.

Alan

strangely, immediately after installing your last version, i was seeing 1 or 2 pending recordings being listed in the bubble. as of this morning though, i am seeing 4...

I don't get a balloon like this when I hover the mouse pointer over the SlimGBPVR icon in my systray. Even with a recording scheduled, all I get is this:

  • Do you ever see a balloon, for example, when a recording starts or ends or if you restart the recording service from the menu? (Balloon tips can be globally disabled on your system using a registry key.)
  • Does a balloon appear if you left-click the icon?

Please check your SlimmGPBVR.error.log. If it contains anything other than a start time, please post it here.

Thanks.

Somewhat disagreeably, since Microsoft's last batch of updates (including the WMF exploit fix) and Nvidia's latest driver release (81.98), the same thing has been happening on my system too. Time to say goodbye to the splash screen I guess. Sad

Also since those two updates, I can't use the Display control panel applet Sad   . I imagine that's just me though...

  1. Yeah, mine too. For me this happened since latest XP updates and Nvidia driver 81.98
  2. Um, sorry, I don't know. I don't have an MVP system. What produces the icon in the first place do you know? Is it GBPVR, GBPVRTray or the MVPIcon plugin?

The icon is produced by the MVPTrayIcon.dll plugin - see http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/MVPTrayIcon

The only reason I know why the mvp tray icon doesn't show is that the gbpvrrecording service does not have "allow service to interact with desktop" set under its properties. Might be worth checking...

Thanks for that suggestion - I'd changed the service to run in its own account so that it could access my network shares. Changing it back to run on the Local System and to be allowed to interact with the desktop has indeed got it working again. However on balance it's probably more important to me that I can access the shared files on the network than for the icon to appear - unless anyone knows how to get it to working in both these situations?

Alan

I must have disabled the balloon tips at some point, because I found the registry key in there.
