I have XP Pro, and have just checked - sure enough, it's there!

you must have xp PRO in the host machine in order to connect

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using...intro.mspx

there is always ultravnc which works great for me (although I only use it across the local lan)

Why don't consider buying a HVR-1300? You'll get both analog and digital receiver at ones!
I have and it works.Big Grin

I have a GEForce MX 4 440 too, will the TV-out be sufficent with this card?

The TV out on my MX 440 is fine. Because I have a MediaMVP, I don't actually use it much, but the last time I used it, it worked fine on my regular (analog, non-HD) TV.

My ancient 3Df/x Voodoo 3 card actually had a better analog output than the MX 440. (I've still got it around here somewhere...but I digress.)

I suppose if you want the best picture quality from a PC to a TV set you would want to upgrade to a video card with a DVI output. Most newer nVidia and ATI cards offer that connector. Then you would use a "DVI to HDMI" cable to connect it to your HDMI-capable HDTV receiver.

Realise that I am here in the USA, and things might be a bit different there in your neck of the woods.

Hi, thanks for that.

I rather stupidly bought an S-Video to Scart converter, thinking that the TV output in the MX card was S-Video. Of course the cable doesn't fit!! Is it a Composite connecter I need, and if so is there a converter that I can buy from somewhere.

In the interim, I borrowed a PCI NVidia 6200 with S-Video out, but even though I have set it to PAL (and tried lots of other settings) I can only get Black and White TV-Ouput - any idea what might be wrong there as well?

When using W2003 do not forget to enable video and sound hardware acceleration (video from the advanced screen settings sound I am not sure any more) otherwise you will get huge processor loads.

Hi, thanks for that - although I have now decided to go with XP - I feel there will be less problems that way.

Also, if the MX 4 440 is a composite out would this be what I need to connect it to my S-Video to Scart cable:

well if it is a round phono socket (possibly yellow) then yes it is an composite connector - vastly inferior to s-video.

A b&w image indicates that the the Chrominance (colour) part of the signal is not being mapped to the scart connector, suggesting a problem with the convertor.

no, that is converting svideo to composite, you can;t do it the other way around.
