I wasnt sure where to put this request but as its a basic feature of GBPVR i thought here would be good.

I was using BLEB, i would like to use something better, xml stuff is doing my head in, isnt there ANY good GUI software around so i can find (URL) then squirt into a nice file that GBPVR can use and have it run every day (or has its own thing to do this)?

Many Thanks

what's problems are you having with Bleb (or xml) exactly?

I use bleb, configure it to just download channels that I want and off it goes, though for dvb channels i did have to edit the bleb-channels.xml files to add missing channels, but that was pretty easy.

the only gui that i know of (for uk users) is http://www.birtles.org.uk/ which works very well.

gbpvr ONLY reads from an xml file, which is the best format for this kind of data.

Believe me I've tried all the solutions and the best if you want every freeview channel in UK is to use Alan Birtles utility at http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/ it works great and can even post process the xmltv data and modify it specificaly for freeview channels that only show at certain times like abc1 etc.

can you call it from the command line? In such case you can call it from a file called updateepg.bat. This thread will be of help to you:

Just to clarify: This solution will NOT in fact give you listings for every Freeview channel (as nemulate wrongly stated); listings are NOT provided for any DVB radio channels. If radio is important to you, then the best solution for EPG completeness is the DVB EPG option.

Not directly - doesn't work using DVR-MS i don't think. If you're using mpeg, you have to demux to an audio only MP2 stream using something like TMPGEnc before you can play the recording. But suits me well for recording late-night shows on radio 1 etc.

I think that it is reasonable to infer that nemulate was refering to tv channels (xmlTV) and not dvb radio, particually as gb-pvr does not support dvd radio.

The site starts off by saying

"supplies tv listings for over 240 UK tv channels"

There's no reason why Radio Times can't make radio listings available in the same way.

It IS possible to use dvb radio within GB-PVR, and many posters on these forums have expressed interest in doing so. People doing channel scans on GB-PVR will see these radio channels as being available.

More to the point, Freeview consists of both TV and Radio channels, therefore his statement was plainly wrong, and is likely to cause confusion amongst people who search these forums in future, and download the RT-XMLTV app expecting it to provide access to radio listings.

It doesn't do anybody any good to have wrong information floating around these forums.
