Stv ???

Preface:
I am a medical student living in a dorm with no access to digital cable.

Setup:
AMD Sempron 3300+
nVidia 6600
PVR-150 X 1
PVR-500 X1
Theater Pro 550 PCIe X 1
DVI->HDMI to a new Samsung 26" LCD

My question is, with only getting STV, should I keep my resolution low, or force 1080i out? Does this have ANY effect on output? Or is it strictly decoders?

The obvious question back to you is: "do you see any difference"? If so, then you should force 1080i output, if not, then don't =) (can you tell I don't know the answer? )
