LCD (20 x 4 characters)

Hi,

I'm currently using WinTvCapStart   just because my HTPC is used as a recording only device. The LCD displays useful information about the currently recorded program, the next scheduled program, free disc space and so on.

The LCD always keeps me informed about the status of the PC without having to turn on the PC or using a monitor. It's quite easy to program such a 20 x 4 characters LCD.

But I'm thinking about to switch to GB-PVR because of it's support for the MediaMVP. The only thing that I miss in GB-PVR is the LCD support.

So are there any plans for an LCD support?

It shouldn't be too hard to add something. I was think I could add an option to send general events to Girder. This would include things like:

- Recording <program name>
- Currently playing <mp3, radio song or video>

With Girder you could configure these events to be sent to an LCD. Let me know if you'd prefer not use Girder, then I'll make a more generic (plugin) approach.

I never used Girder and so I can't tell if it would be a good option to use Girder for the LCD output. And Girder is now Shareware and therefore the plug-in solution might be better for those who use the Hauppauge remote and just want and LCD output. But somebody's got to write a plug-in...

So I really don't know. Just do what you think is the best solution.
