SPYDER Calibration

Has anyone used SPYDER To calibrate their TV. It's a $200 product, i'm wondering if it's worth it. It doesn't seem that it is, but just curious of people's experiences.
If you want to know why nPVR is the bomb, ask my wife!

To calibrate all our TVs, monitors, etc., I used my son's "Finding Nemo" DVD, $15 from walmart.

Sorry, it did sound ambiguous - I didn't mean to be flippant.
Some DVDs have a home theatre setup option in the 'Extras' (like I say, the lad's "Finding Nemo" has it, I *think* the Star Wars DVDs do as well), that you put in your DVD player and then calibrate your tv to. Basically the typical test patterns, plus tests to help set brightness, contrast, etc. I did all the tvs with the individual standalone players attached to each so that it was consistent, then for the PC... - Use the DVDROM drive in the pc to calibrate the monitor (obviously, you have to do the monitor FIRST) - Attach a standalone DVD player to the PVR150, and adjust the ProcAmp settings to calibrate the card (write them down and you have a known baseline to compare to) It all seems a bit anal I know, but it is important to me to know that everything is calibrated to the same baseline and that DVDs that I burn will all look the same, plus I can then tell when the incoming source sucks and adjust accordingly. So, yeh - $15 from wally world. Hope this helps.

My kids Nemo doesn;t have any test patterns on it, and you replied, I just meant it has nice brights colors to gauge it by... Connect a DVD player to the 150 is a good idea also, I always wanted to do that, but never bothered. I even have a portable DVD player...

Should have said, it's the 2 Disk edition that he has. Not that I've watched it of course (*cough*).
i'm sure a quick google will turn up alternatives though.

No, spyder is used to create a profile (for use in Photoshop etc) for monitors only. I don't believe that this would work for a tv. http://www.colorvision.com/profis/profis...jsp?id=101
