Movie Times

It would be cool to have a list of theaters in my local area - maybe as part of a setup I can check off theaters that are the ones that I go to.

After the setup list the movies playing in that theater and what time they are playing. If I select a movie I could get a maybe a picture and a brief description of the move and the rating.

I would be neat to maybe link to Fandango and order tickets online.

An additional expansion how about adding Broadway/Off-Broadway Plays too?

That would be a neat plugin. The listing should not be that hard. We just need to find a site that will show us all of the theaters in an area, provide a filter list so you can exclude theaters you do not want.

I have not seen a theater list in anything but html. So we would have to pick a site preferably that allows you to list a bunch of theaters and write a parser (Which would be a little ugly), or if someone has a place that will provide this information in a more friendly manner please post it, preferably xml.

I got the idea from Meedio plugin and checking the plugin in forum they seem to use this http://www.movie-list.com/ web site. If it's XML it's hard to tell since it's already converted to HTML by the time I see it.

The Developers should check out the plugins on the Meedio web site because they have a few interesting ones.

If you run Ethereal while meedio does its thing, you'd very quickly see what they're querying and what is returned.

The fandango processor was not that difficult. I have an executable now that I specify the areacode and it will parse the page and create a xml file with each theater, movies and times.

I also have a plugin which I have submitted that will display it. You would just have to schedule the executable to run once a week. Since it takes 30 seconds to run, since it walks all of the pages to get all of the theater listings.
