ah yes, sorry I have used these skip controls in the embedded but they appeared to skip big chunks of the video and I got totally lost as to where I was in the recording. Is is possible for the skip duration to be altered, possibly via another config parameter?

yep, I plan to make it a bit more user-friendly (referring to the seek feature).. but it's never going to quite be perfect, which is why i refer to it as experimental.. but most likely you'll be able to get it to work if you're a bit careful while skipping around.

Cool plugin. I'll have to try it from work. I did notice that there were only 2 files in the list. I assume this is because it doesn't get videos that the VA plugin already archived.

If you can get that to work, you're a smidgeon away from streaming live TV, all you'd have to do is start the recording on the chosen channel and stream the file in the same way. If it works ok.

In other words, it would stream it in the same way that the MVP does live TV via a buffer file.

I'd like to do the same but won't yet because Orb lets me choose a file on any drive, I can't do that with the webstreamer.

Any chance of a slightly different interface to include a file browser as an alternate to the database view?

Another wish, if the skip is only going to work within the web plug-in, can you make that window resizeable? If the bitrate is on the low side, it's either a tiny window or full screen, I'd like somewhere in between. That's the one benefit of spawning WMP, just to resize.

I suppose there could be an option for a file browser.. sounds like a good idea.

For the skip, there could be an option to launch a mini-window with just the skip controls when using an external player. That way, you can use WMP or VLC and re-size it to your liking, and bring up the seek controls when you want to.

I just had a thought .... skipping .... comskip files ...... something i'll have to take a closer look at.

The EWA already enables you to access the video folder, the best solution would be to simply bolt a stream option onto that (as well as the recordings).
[edit]: Just to clarify: David, this would address your needs if you have your video folders setup in the config.

Sounds good. As David said, the external window is too small atm. I don;t know if the tunable bitartes would fix this or not but your idea sounds great as long as the control window doesn't disappear somewhere. I guess it would not be possible to make WMP/VLC full screen as you would loose the control window but even that is not such a big price to pay for having skip functionality.

btw: The videos do look much better in VLC comapred to the browser window. I guess this is perhaps to different bitrates.

True, works for me. I guess what i'm really getting at is that if I can just choose the bitrate, I don't need a drop down list next to each file, I just need to set the bitrate for where I am and would then like to choose the file to play.

I guess i'm really saying it's a redesign of the interface or at least an alternate view. As long as I can get at all my stuff then i'm happy. That said, I can't get anything right now, Orb keeps going to sleep and the webstreamer keeps stopping after just a few seconds, even with the buffer set to 30000ms.

I have given up and am transcoding to AVI and i'll ftp the thing overnight but I think it is because my box is quite busy tonight recording, remuxing, comskiping and converting to avi all in postprocessing.bat and several shows with 3 tuners going simultaneously. Smile

The game plan is to have webStreamer fully integrated into EWA, hopefully in the near future. Most likely, there will be a config page where you will set all the options, including the bitrates and video resolution settings. Then, there would be just a simple "stream" button from Manage Recordings that will simply do what it's supposed to do. lol working how it should, what a concept for software... Wink

David as for your setup, I'm not surprised you're having trouble if you've got three tuners going while you're trying to stream.. you're asking quite a bit out of that PC Smile
