bigbus01 Wrote:It worked for me except if I turned off the MVP. I initially unplugged the MVP and let the new bin take over. It worked well until I turned off the MVP and then turned it on again. When you turn it on, the red light comes on but the TV screen is black. It is like it has changed to the composite connector (from the S-video connector that I set in the configuration--I haven't connected to composite connector). To get it working again, I have to pull the plug to reset the MVP.

Bigbus
I have had the same result on three MVP's; 2 using the S-video and 1 via composite.

No joy here with my v.1.0 MVP. It boots and displays the main menu OK. If I then select any menu option, the top 5th of the screen goes green then the MVP restarts but only makes it to the 3rd green progress square.

When this happens GBPVR has to be restarted on the PC. I see the following log message but this is probably a result of the MVP crashing. I'm wireless btw, don't know that makes a jot of difference.

For me with MVP PAL/SCART interface same response as bigbus01 and others reported.
I did notice an irritating vertical flicker on the screen. Otherwise things seemed to work OK. If needed I can repeat and produce logs

Here was my experience last night. My wife wanted to watch the last half of American Idol as we saw the first half live on TV. My wife if very impatient for geeky stuff so I wanted things as smooth as possible. The new dongle was loaded in MVP. The old dongle doesn't fast forward well so I manually loaded the MVP services and ran with the MVP dongle/GUI. The MVP GUI hung on selecting recorded show folder for AI. I turned off the MVP services and went to config GBPVR with the old dongle but config hung and wouldn't reconfig. That left me having to use the new dongle. I restarted MVP and saw 4 squares towards the top middle of the screen. Eventually, after about 1 minute, all 4 sqaures turned green and MVP came alive. I selected the AI show I wanted, fast forwarded to the spot we had not seen yet and all went well.

heres what i found. I tried to play back a mpeg encoded with the following parameters via ffmpeg -y -i "in.avi" -b 2400 -ab 160 -r 25 -s 720x576 -vcodec mpeg2video "out.mpg". Under dongle.bin this plays fine with no problems.

using GBMVP.bin the audio is screwed, it skips and is choppy after a few seconds the sound is out of sequence.

I really hope this dongle replacement goes somewhere Big Grin good luck

It was hit and miss for me. I was able to get the MVP to start but it took about twice as long. Using MyVideos caused a staccatto playback so I used the Recordings function to play back. FF caused it to restart.
When I hit 'play' to play files,(mpeg) I first see 4 small white boxes. The first goes to red, then green and then the rest go to green and the file starts to play.
Upon going back to dongle.bin, I no longer have any problems.

Can you try
<
MVPFFmpegTranscodeCmdLinePAL>-y -i "{SOURCE_FILE}" -b 2400 -ac 2 -ab 224 -r 25 -s 352x288 -f svcd "{DEST_FILE}"</MVPFFmpegTranscodeCmdLinePAL> and let me know if the sound is fine?

Which version are you running? Are you using the new v0.96.12 release?

Sorry, I was running .8 but just installed .12. It does seem to work a bit better....no crashes. FF works. I still get the staccatto playback but I think I need to run the network tweaks again that seemed to fix the problem last time. I don't know if the new installs cause this or not so I'll need to play around a bit more.
However, I do see some improvement with 96.12.
