Recording directly to DivX does work quite nicely in concert with a XCard which plays back the DivX files very well.

Sub - regarding AVI. Have you seen AVIPreview? This program allows viewing a partially downloaded avi file. Not sure if this helps you, but a partially downloaded file will not have the table info at the end of the file either, but is still playable using this app.

Person I think this device suck becuase doesn’t encode the audio data into MP2, MP3, AAC or even Dolby Digital (AC-3) which has be soft convert after the recording is done.
Not count the fact there no PCI ver around and it half bake device which dosen't even support all DivX Encoder Features just like Xcard playback lacking QPEL. GMC and 1/4 pixel personly I think I wait for something better to come long.

I admit the device isn't perfect, but it is much better than I though it was going to be. Its high bitrate DivX recordings are very good. I'm encoding the audio to MPEG1 layer 2 during the recording, but this isn't like software encoding video, and uses next to no CPU. Its MPEG1 layer 2 audio before it hits the disk.

That said, I'd probably still buy the Hauppauge products in preference, but it depends on your priorities. If you really want MPEG4 or DivX, then this is a great device.

BTW, I know there are PCI versions and new USB versions with tuners about to appear on the market, all based on the same GO7007SB chipset.

I will be very grateful if there is an option in gbpvr to control the color settings in gbpvr instead of using the intervideo crap software. When I exit the intervideo software after tweaking the video settings, it returns back to the unusually dark video level. Also, it would be great if the gbpvr encoding bitrates are specified because from what I know, the bitrates seem to be preset at prespecified parameters by the plextor imbeciles.

Sub this is excellent software. I will just have to deal with the crappy windows xp service pack 2 os, mismapped irqs and inferior hardware from Walma**.

Its pretty manual, but you should be able to adjust the brightness/contrast/hue/saturation in the go.ini file by editing the [SETUP-VideoProcAmp] section. The bitrates are also listed in this file.
